I have the HD-420 (s) -- in which the "s" means the shorter (1 meter) cable.  I have a bass mod that I performed that literally has made the HD-428s one of the Sennheisers with the most bass, that I've heard to date.  Best of all, this modification is simple, cheap and can be adjusted -- depending on how  much bass one desires.  I plan to post the procedure in the headphone forum later this evening providing the simple details that takes the HD-428 from a good headphone to a great headphone.

Edit: I've worked on the process for applying the bass mods to the HD-428.  About 15 minutes of work, and no cost, yields quite an improvement in bass for these headphones:

Not interested in buying anything, but i just thought i'd say to everyone that i'd recommend the HD428's. Love the way they sound and his price is a very fair price.
