Need help chosing IEM!! - Page 2

ClieOS give popo sq rating 4.5, s4 have only 3.3 and gr07 and tf10 4.8. Gr06 should be 4.4 or 4.5.

The Op Posted " Bang for the Buck"  GR06 hands down.  At $65  they beat everything below $150 imo.  Now that's bang for the buck.

Joker gives the 06 an 8.1  and the 07 a 9.1...So that should tell ya on the 06 sound..I think Vsonic priced the 06 in the wrong spot, but that's good for us.  IMO they should be about $110-120, they easily beat everything below this by quite a margin really...

Thats all fair enough so it would be a leap up! Then these are some cheaper options you should consider!

I had sunrise xcited with 4.6 and have sm e30 with 3.75. Its hard to tell difference so gr07 would be different not better than gr06, maybe only a bit.

I respect clieOS a lot and of course value what he says! However I think your taking his guidelines a bit too seriously. Going by that your sunrises are just a tad of my DBA-02s (4.63) which I doubt.

You ears are better than what you read and I think you should respect yourself. If you think that the two listed are similar then why doubt it even if clieOS think there a fair but apart!

I agree with Ultimate Ears UE700... and Vsonic, however I'd recommend the Vsonic R04... even though I don't need it, I just bought one myself from here

Very good price / performance.  From my audition, everyone should start with R04, then get GR07 later, the very refined and neutral sound of GR07 may take time to appreciate.

Sony EX600 and Etymotic HF5 are other price / performance favorites, and perhaps the Hifiman RE262.

Let me make a very quick list of preference

soundspace / neutral / design - Sony EX600

speed / seperation / imaging / mids / highs / musical - Ultimate Ears UE700

speed / neutral / analytical - Etymotic HF5

involving / musical - Vsonic R04

neutral / refined - Vsonic GR07

mid-centric / sweet / musical - Hifiman RE262

bass - JVC FXC51

bass - Final Audio Adagio III

classical music / bass - JVC FX500

noise-cancelling - Audio Technica ANC23

From this list I haven't heard the RE262 or HF5, just read comments.  I've had the ER-4PT and RE252/272 however.

Sony EX310 / EX510 might be overlooked.

I think the safest path is start with an involving - yet reference - dynamic (Vsonic R04) then go straight for a pricier multi balanced-armature later (for example Audio Technica CK100Pro?).

Neutral / reference dynamics (Sony EX600, Vsonic GR07, Hifiman RE272?) are less enjoyable than involving dynamics, and involving (imaging / precision) multi balanced-armatures.  Single balanced-armatures (ER-4 / HF5, Final Audio Heaven A/S/C) aren't as involving as the higher end dynamics, for example Heaven S versus Sony EX700, IME.

I think most people actually want to hear involving sound, tonality, soundspace presentation, imaging / layering, speed, musicality, air - rather than neutrality, reference, accuracy, IME.

I think everyone wants to hear extension (RE272 is very light in bass, Shure is very light in highs) and natural tone (UE700 and CK10 sound a bit artificial).

Hope this helps. =p

kiteki, thanks for your comment! what about Vsonic gr06?

You're welcome.

Haven't heard that one lol.

I think the model numbers might confuse people (R02 | R04 | R06 | R07).

My hunch is the R04 is actually better, from what I've read, and the R06 has more colour/mids or something like that, not sure.

p.s. The TF10 has some "issues" along the lines of phase shift / non-linear soundspace, like the new Sony XBA series, which is why I skipped those two, however auditioned.

Getting confused myself here lol, the R06!

Think i actually will try the R04... At least they are not pricey to give a try..

Yeah go for the R04, hope you can report back if you like it =]

Next step, you can save up money for the Audio Technica CK100Pro, Vsonic GR08 (not released yet), or a custom IEM like JH Audio JH11.  My crazy/sound advice for you.

your questiong is vague...

you crave for bass? treble? more neutral

for bass the cks77

for just clarity the triple fi or the x10i are both good

personally i would go for the cks77
