Would anyone be able to confirm if the ASG-2's sound similar to the IE8/80? Rumble...soundstage??  I'm looking for something similar to the Sennheiser sound but with better quality and quantity if possible. I want to feel as much bass as possible without sacrificing quality...

It's been about a year since I heard the IE8, but I think the ASG-2 would be a direct upgrade. Take that with a grain of salt though.

I have the IE8 and got a chance to listen to the ASG-2 at the Canlanta meet. My impressions of the ASG-2 won't be as in-depth (or probably as valuable) as those from people who actually own them, but overall I preferred the sound of the ASG-2 by a fairly wide margin. Although the IE8 definitely has characteristics I like, I found the ASG-2 to have a more forward treble (IE8 much too laid-back and dark-sounding for my tastes) and improved quantity and quality bass. The IE8 bass has that midbass hump that sounds good on a quick listen, but gets a bit old after a while, while the ASG-2 has a much more visceral, impactful bass that goes deeper than the IE8 does. Also, I found the variable bass control on the IE8 to be more of a gimmick than a useful customization tool, while the Aurisonics version is actually useful (even though I think the bass is massively overblown even when set to halfway, although bassheads will probably love it).

I like my IE8, and I used to love them, but they show their age against something like the ASG-2. I find the sound on the Aurisonics to be markedly superior. Again, keep in mind my ASG-2 opinions are built around listening at a meet, which is not the best way to audition IEMs, and that I tend to prefer a bit brighter sound than the IE8 (or LCD-2, for that matter) can offer.

Hope this helps!

Yup, the ASG-2's midrange resolution is easily on par with the IE800, but it offers taller, more dynamic presentation that makes the IE800's vocals sound somewhat compressed in comparison.

On the other hand, the IE800 has a more "audiophile" tuning. What I mean is that the IE800's bass is more centered below 60 hz, and the treble is more sparkly. This makes its vocals sound more effortless than the ASG-2. In that way, the IE800 is still the best when it comes to vocals.

Thanks guys... I actually ordered the ASG-2's and received them yesterday from Chuck Levin's. I only had the option for the clear frosted, I would have preferred the black plated version. They were the only ones who had them in stock on the east coast. Very glad to have these now. So in the past year and a half I have been on the search for the perfect IEM's for me. Big soundstage, detail retrieval, warmer sound texture, BASS in quality and quantity, and durability. I have been through a lot of IEMs in a short amount of time. (Just look at my profilesmile.gif.) The IE8's were the first headphones I bought a few years ago. I loved the sound that came out of them, minding the mid-bass hump. Sold the IE8's...and I wish I never did...it is impossible to find a genuine pair now. So I bought the IE80 from Razordog deals. The headphone I was using about 90% of the time has been the IE80, and I have been very happy with them. I knew customs would be the next step in the evolution of my quest. The ASG-2 was perfect for me. Not truly a custom, but still a step above what I've been looking for. I feel like these need to be burned-in somewhat. The sound still sounds good, but is a bit raw to my ears. The bass tuning response is great, it actually works. The one thing that bugs me is the cable/fit. It is a bit loose no matter what I do. I'm used to the memory wire of the Westones, and if anything, I prefer to wear my headphones in a down position. All in all I am very happy with these. I only have about 2 hours on them. I look forward burning these in and making these my new go to IEM.

I can confirm it's better bass in quality and quantity than the IE8.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, this is the best I can do right now in showing my AS-2 (nickel coated with black chrome). This should give you some idea until I can take better photos. I think it's a handsome looking IEM. Great job, Aurisonics!

That is a gorgeous finish Eric. Just sent off my G-1 to Aurisonics. Hope to have a new pair of G-2s sooner rather than later

The new finish looks really good.

Thank you fellas! And thanks to Dale and the crew for an excellent job. I think this AS-2 is quite handsome! I'm trying to write but I have them in my ears now and the music keeps taking me away. The AS-2 loves Sting's bass with The Police. "Roxannnnne! You don't have to put on the red light!!!! ...." beerchug.gif

And those drum snaps and thumps! Oh boy!!!

Nice, Eric.

I'm also liking my own stealth finish. It's nice and sleek, especially now that I'm about to be off on rotations in the pharmacy. I can get away with using them when I'm in the stock room because hey're so low profile. The added benefit is that they'll never yellow, and the black cables will never go green.
