By the way, TMRaven, do you recall what the ad was for? That helps us narrow it down to the source.

Thanks for your efforts, jude. We know you're doing what you can - no need to pile on. For whatever reasons and on at least half the occasions, more than one Ad will begin playing simultaneously... and both loud! While listening to Internet Radio and reading/writing/posting makes for an interesting scramble.

If I were not listening to Internet Radio, I would simply turn my volume to zero. The past 3 days, T-Mobile has been blitzing multiple times. There are others but T-Mobile is hitting heavy! The Ad with the spokeswoman going through her wardrobe - climbing onto a sportbike and rippin' through the streets of L.A.!

Lastly, some of these Ads will "cycle" over and over again rather than ending on their own. Hope this helps.

T-Mobile

PetMeds

CDC

BookIt

There's one going on right now from the Center of Disease Control (cdc.gov); it's pretty disturbing actually with footage from amputees and what not.

I just saw that one, too. And I agree completely.

I just got a Clearasil one, right while I was listening to some new music.  Startled me, and it was annoying.

Not advisable for a music-related forum.  I haven't read this thread (only saw the title) so I don't know if anything is being done about it but I hope these get removed.

Frankly, I don't want to see T-Mobile or Neiman Marcus ads either.  I have never visited those sites.

I'm hearing the audio ads for the first time this morning, Gout, heart attack and something about Obama and oil prices. A political audio ad, that one should be censured twice.

Here are the exact locations of the ads (both by "AdChoices") with audio:

1) Right above the "Featured Sponsors"

2) Right beneath the "Headfi Sponsors"

Another ad with audio is that "Daily-spot.com / Jwplayer" ad. This morning I got TWO "Clearasil" blasting from both source 1) and 2), then TWO "Daily-spot.com" blasting 3 minutes later.

Saw these this morning as well. Glad to know its not for real :)

Yeah, these have been really bugging me. The Clearasil ones pop up constantly now, and even when you go to mute them, the ad will refresh and un-mute it again. I've gotten a stereo chorus of three or four of them at once due to multiple windows being open.

The worst offender though is one with a really LOUD drumline. Not sure which ad it is... I think one for "Daily Spots?" But yes, it's so loud it causes my headphones to rattle. I'm actually worried about damage being caused to them when browsing head-fi now due to this one particular ad. Thankfully it doesn't seem to show up as much as the Clearasil one.

I got jumped by some sort of washing machine cleaner product last night in both spots - I discovered that if you just pause both instead of muting them, they don't switch to a new ad.

It's not usually a problem for me, since if I'm listening to music my sound is being fed from a completely different channel from the one the browser uses. I only noticed it last night because I was preparing to play a game and decided to check Head-Fi.

I just got an ad for Almay - Smart Shade and also another ad for Radio Loyalty(??).  I don't see a way to mute the Almay ad, however, the ads just refresh anyway.

Add Home Depot and Lysol adds to the list of videos popping up; glad these are being taken care and not actually supposed to be around; I like many other was surprised the first time they popped up.. tend to be very distracting, I just mute my laptop now when I'm browsing the threads (temp solution) biggrin.gif..

Also these just came up (like the others on auto-play)..

Got three other ear-blasting attacks from:

1) Lysol

2) Cotton

3) Lime-a-way

All from the same locations that I note above.

Again, all, I'm very sorry about this--these types of ads are supposed to be banned from our networks, and should not show.

We think we narrowed it down, and shut it off, but please let me know if you still see any.

Thanks jude :) You're a real mensch for keeping this place user-friendly, I've seen too many forums go downhill because of ad pollution and I'm really glad that you're willing to keep this place about the equipment and the music :)
