He can hear our voices by not hearing wallets opening. 1K plus amp modules for poor build quality? No thanks. Buttons falling off? Really? There is a lot of competition heating up here and that's good for us, the consumers. Wait and spend on something perfect or a good value. Or both.

I do think whilst finish is secondary to sound quality this should have better attention to fit and finish. Whilst not seeing it in person yet I feel he should have taken some hints from the 801, I love the deep gloss paint finish on the metal casing of mine and also love the gold plated buttons.

When I first saw the 901 I imagined it to be a brushed alloy case and leather around the volume control. There really is no excuse for lackluster finish at this price point especially when one takes into account the cheaper manufacturing costs in China.

To go up considerably in price from the 801 which admittedly is a basic looking device ( though there is something to be said for simplicity exuding class) one would have hoped for a better quality of external finish.

Looking at what people are saying about it sonically as well I am pretty sure I will pass on this one as I am having so much musical enjoyment from my 801, perhaps when the 902 comes out the differences and build quality will be of a more significant improvement over my present player that I would be more interested.

For now though the sound signature of the 801 is right up my sonic ally and everytime I hold that metal case with its deep and flawless paint finish I feel a great pride of ownership.

I am still pretty interested in this one, more likely to upgrade into this compared to the ak120, not exactly because of the pricing either but more on the functionality and feature list

I'm right there with 'ya Retrias. The jury's still out on these two new DAP's. I do know I'll end-up with either one of them, but for now I'll wait for the reviews and comparisons to start rolling in. I will say this though: Visually, the AK120 is gorgeous! It's a sexy piece of kit indeed. smily_headphones1.gif

I like ak120 design as well, I have the ak 100 and everytime I see someone with a stack or a bigger kit , I appreciate the size even more , the amazing design is just a very nice bonus

I als liked the hm901 design though , its very industrial and gadgety

Does HiFiman offer 10 years free labor service for HM-901, and owners just have to pay for shipping and part costs?

I know iBasso offers 10 years free labor service for its DX100.

Not sure about international orders, but customers in china had been paying shipping/insurance on their own.  But I wouldn't worry about labor cost as Fang and team had been basically asking every one with issues to send the it back to check/repair/replace on their official board.  (tips for those who want to google translate: rice=Fang)
