But the dial is pure gold and it makes the SQ more vibrant I heard.

Heheh! The same way the gold paint makes the gold edition of AK100 and AK240 sound better?tongue.gif

I am thinking to provide the mod service in which i will paint the dial in black. This will result in darker background and clarity in the presentation. Depends on the paint of choice, service starts at 1888euro (postage not included)

Thanks for the comments by the way those who posted them.  I've just ordered a HM-901 with the stock card, should be interesting.

I didn't follow this DAP from the beginning. But from what I read, looks like the early units had some issues with its wheels (or build quality in general).

Are the issue already fixed by HifiMan? Thinking of getting one while waiting my QA360 to be delivered.

It seems to be the case as you don't hear of that particular complaint any more. Besides, hifiman has fantastic customer service. smily_headphones1.gif

Early build quality issue doesnt exist any more since Fang mentioned on erji that they have changed the supplier...he was pissed how it impaired the image at the beginning.

It is still a great sounding DAP today importantly with basic UI. Stop/play/forward buttons are a little slow response but doesnt bother me much.
Balance card warms up the player a little

Yup! Dr Fang Bian does take these things very seriously. Which is great for us. smily_headphones1.gif

just found out the dock for this is msrp 399, my question why? What inside justifies that price since the HM901 is already  a more then capable dac. Seems awfuly expensive.
