I think you can only get the answer from head direct..... they have not started selling HM700+RE400 on head direct at the moment at the moment, I guess they prefer to sell the first batch domestically in case of things go south...

Anyone has experience with HM801? Is it good for Rap/Hip Hop? 901 balance really make the Rap records sound flat.... (I am the only one to blame for selling my ASG-2..). really need that mid bass thumping...."y'all"...........

They just released a new AMP card that sounds similar to HM801, and it will be the stock card for new HM901 orders.

I do not see the point of this new card...it obviously will not be as good as iem, balanced or minibox...

I guess they had to come up with a new relatively affordable design to replace their initial standard card that proved to have issues.

PS: finally received an IEM card from AC Gears. They were the fourth retailers I tried as the previous ones refused to sale me one because of restrictions from Hifiman.

IMO 801 is very gd in vocal which I feel 901 loss in the area.

I guess no matter what, they need to fix the standard card issue so they market a new "standard" card i.e. Classic...in order to justify the investment, it needs to target both new and existing 901 customers...at the same time, it addresses the concern of vocal not being "warm" enough..win win for all... The price is not unreasonable also..

I ordered my 901 balanced. I hope they will send me the 801 card free because I never got a free card with the 901.

I too no issue with the 901 vocal too but it is different if you are asking the difference. To me it would be perfect with the vocal side on the 901.

Trouble Updating FW. I followed the instructions. Copy update.zip to FAT32 SD card. While pressing home button power up. Let go of power button and screen shows Recovery and Update Mode. I keep the home button pressed and nothing happens. After a couple of minutes I let go of the home button and display stays showing Recovery and Update Mode.

If I press the home button again the screen goes blank.

Only way out is to reboot.

Tried different SD card  and downloaded FW again in case it was corrupted. Still no go.

Any advice?

You don't need to press and hold the HOME button for so long. The following is copied from the instruction (remarks are from my experiences):

1. While pressing the HOME button, hold the Power key up until the HM-901 is power on. After the screen is on (remark: when you see anything shows up on the screen) , release the power key. Then release the HOME button until the hifiman logo disappears. Now (remark: you can let go off the HOME button) the player will be in recovery mode.
3. Wait until the first picture shows on the screen. The system will be updated automatically.
4. After the update is done (remark: the player will power off automatically, well at least the screen becomes blank. You can power it up now, then) power off the player (remark: this time it's you who power it off) and then reboot it (remark: means to power it on) to finish the whole process.

Hi Fengwei, I still using the delivered FW. May I seek your opinion should I update to the lastest firmware! And may I also check any change/improvement in SQ. Thanks.
