I also found the battery came with the player where I got from Moon not that good. But we need a few time if drainage and fully charge to get that in good state. Of course one has to monitor that otherwise I will get back to head direct.

I got an extra battery and fully charged weeks ago from head direct and yet to test. Managed to order the line out to mini and the charge box days ago. They are pretty fast in delivery.

Anyone kindly advice when the dock station will be available? It seemed that with the battery removed, in order to listen with the player we need the docking station and direct connection to the player with the charger not possible and unsafe fir the player?

To me, the stock amp card is not good at all and the mini box really far ahead better.

Rgds

By the way, so far I am still with old firmware and not updated to the beta version. It seemed my player don't have the usual compliant from the member here.

I used to email to Fang years ago before I got my 801. He seemed very responsive and sincere. Frankly when I listen initially with the stock amp card I very disappointed but once I changed to the mini box, it really sounded very very good. Lastly, the 801 is also very good with different signature.

Enjoy.

Just returned the RE600. I liked them but in the end they did not have enough bass for me. If they had a little fuller sound I would have kept them.

For re600 users, hifiman made extra tips that were reported to give more bass. I had been using some nondescript silicon tips that looks like ortofon knockoff that give punchier bass. You may want to try those new tips.

There are 4 styles of tips and I think I saw comments that the top two types in the pic give more bass. Never tried myself tho.

I am a reformed basshead and I find the bass on the RE-600 superb, very slightly north of neutral but it extends all the way down and is of the best quality. I previously sold the fantastic RE-262 because the bass just wasn't doing it for me.

But if you really love bass, I recommend the SD3.

The SD3 balanced out of the HM-901 is really something if you like bass. Favourite combo so far. :D

Nice...I am getting a balanced cable for my Spiral Ear SE5 soon to try with 901. Actually SD3 is sometimes a bit too much bass for me but still great. What balanced cables are you using?

It has been a while already that I ordered. Do not remember when.

I got one from Forza Audiowork, great service, reasonable prices and short lead time. Nice cable but to be very honest I find it too thick and stiff for IEMs. It is less flexible than my BGT  cable for my HE-6.

Here are some pics - You might notice my modded wheel. It makes such a massive difference. No more slippery finger accident. ;)

Yesterday I got my Sandisk Extreme (up to 45MB/s read speed) SDXC 128GB and loaded it with about 3000 files / 90GB. As I noticed when I first scanned my 64GB card of same type and brand, the first time HM-901 scans a new SD card it takes quite a while, but when you reinsert the card, it takes much less time to rescan. Scanning the 3000 files / 90GB took a little less than 7 (seven) minutes, but when turned on the player after that, it takes about half a minute to "scan" the files. This implies - as far as I can gather - that HM-901 builds a database and then keeps track of changes only. Scan times are from when Main Menu screen appears.
