Actually I have the latest (0.23) and it does have eq. Significantly brings down audio quality though so it might as well not be there.

Am I seeing this right- it's just a battery dock and so you STILL cannot charge an external battery while your current unit is plugged in??

It's actually a battery dock + a power cable.

Are you sure? The picture shows only the battery dock.

I just confirmed with Hifiman.

With a ":(", they told me that this does not come with the charger (which is the adapter that we have). It's just a dock, which must be plugged into the charger.

In short you can only charge either this or the HM901 at the same time. You cannot charge both.

Looks like you can buy the cradle, the battery, and/or the charger module individually.  If you want to charge a battery outside of the 901, you would just need the cradle, and use  your own battery and charger. If you want a spare battery for longer play-time, you would buy the cradle and an additional battery and use your charger.  You just have to make sure that one is charged while the other one is charging.

I suppose you could buy the battery, charger, and cradle, and be able to charge them both at the same time - but how often would that be necessary?  I would imagine that these batteries require "smart" charging, and the current charging unit is probably not equipped to monitor 2 batteries at the same time and adjust their charging cycles accordingly - we're talking a small, specialist audio company, not HP, Canon, Nikon, etc......

I'd love a pmp the size of a credit card, with a 9" screen, 6 month battery life, able to drive 86 dB speakers, 1 Tbyte of storage, DSP eq of actual in-ear response with specific iems, thought-control, and at a retail price of $99.99

sorry for the rant.  It's nice to wish and want - let's try to be a bit more realistic.....  now, where's  my credit card for that cradle and battery....

What are you folks doing for a case? (I never understood why HiFiMan doesn't make one)

My use case is (and this is not hypothetical- ive bought a second battery because it happens to me all the time)- I'm traveling. I run out of battery. I plonk in the other one. Finally I get to my hotel and want to charge both batteries.

I can't do it with this external "charger" they are selling.

I've seen some cases being sold in china. But I didn't get them because I worry about heat dissipation with my balanced amp.

Point taken.  I was just being a bit frisky when I typed it.  I guess your options would be two chargers, or one charger, one cradle, and 3 batteries, and charge them sequentially.  I am not sure what specific circuitry a dual charger would require, and how much it would cost.  It's not that I don;t see the point of it, but it might not cost less than 2 of the standard ones.
