They can already accept 64 GB cards just you have to format to FAT32. So no surprise if it supports 256.

i think for 128gb you already have to use the extender or something, someone posted a pic of it. it looks like a yellow tape connecting the slot to the card. looks pretty inconvenient to me...

Yeah but that is a full size SD card. I'm talking about when Micro SDXC comes out in 256. I won't be using that mod lol. Just rather swap out 64 GB cards until then and even now I don't have that much music that requires such space. Eventually though it will be that way. I have more than enough music to fill it up just I am particular about what I am gonna carry around with me. At home disk space isn't that much of an issue so I'm much less picky.

i dont feel like using my crappy comp as a source as i dont want to turn it on for 5 mins and then turn it off just to listen to music, so im basing my whole setup on my portable dap. hopefully ibasso dx100 or hifiman hm901 (whatever i end up picking by january) will be up to the level that can match home setups...

Well honestly if you spend a nice amount on a home desktop rig of course it is gonna outclass the portable DAP. So depending on what you buy yes and no. Example, if you were to spend $1,400 on the D2 DAC/Amp of course it will be better sounding than the DX100, that's just a given and really not a fair comparison. But I can say the DX100 will be comparable to some desktop set ups. I feel it is up there in sound quality with my DACport LX/Triad rig. But ultimately the desktop rig is still above it by a nice margin. But from the musical enjoyment I get I can at least say it's comparable now unlike before 1.2.7. Although I have to admit since getting the Firestone PSU for my Triad it really has made the gab that much bigger....

how about matching price? like for the 830 bucks that the dx100 costs?

Pretty much with my UHA6 MKII with DACport LX I found it to be comparable in sound quality to my DX100/T1 amp (I still preferred the DX100/T1 combo FWIW). The presentations are a bit different but I'd say rather close in overall performance. Still considering that I spent $600.00+ vs $1000.00+ you know where I am going with this. But you have to figure this is a portable rig vs a transportable rig. So you are paying a premium as well for the portability factor. You will be able to get more performance for cheaper with a desktop setup. Just be particular about what you buy as you could be downgrading and wasting money in certain instances. It just depends on what will suite you more. I couldn't be without both so I have both :).

thanks for the comparison and explanations. :) for me on the go, im thinking get a good dap>(maybe portable amp)>headphone, and at home, dap>desktop amp>headphone. hopefully it will turn out to be more cost effective this way too because im skipping on the desktop dac?

Yeah it would save you money as you wouldn't be buying a home DAC. But knowing this hobby you may end up doing it at some point lol. I started with an E7 and went down hill from there :P.

:) i started with a e17 which i still have. i will be giving my ipod classic+e17+koss tbse1 to my little brother when i get the ibasso dx100. i already have the sony z1000, very nice headphone in my opinion, looking forward to use it with the dx100. when did you start this hobby lol?

Around the time I joined headfi lol. Maybe a bit before that but I don't think Bose IE2s with my Fuze really count for much in terms of "audiophile". lol More like audiofool. :P
