Does anyone feel like they are being strung along on here or is it just me. Once again the products done when its done but silence makes everyone wonder they should at least give there loyal or potential customers an update to keep them interested.

DUde why do you repeat yourself? Just forhet about Hifiman and go and buy a Tera Player and be happy.

He is voicing a legitimate concern. This thing looks like vaporware. Ugly vaporware. But it sounds like he wants to try this before pulling the trigger on the DX100. I am in the same boat. There are some things that the DX100 is sorely missing, namely an SDXC slot. And the new UI looks interesting. I love Android, but I love Android 4.X which is miles and miles better than 2.X, which I just don't think I could go back to after using Jelly Bean.

I might be using my 601 a lot longer than I had anticipated. normal_smile%20.gif

Do you mean a large SD card slot, because it has a MicroSDXC slot, right? Why would you want the larger slot?

It has a micro SDHC slot. I would take the full size sd or micro, I just want it to be an XC slot, not an HC slot.

What is the difference once you format an XC card to Fat32?

Voids the warranty on the card, increased the probability of errors rendering the card useless (which makes the fact that you've voided the warranty even worse), and hc is a lot slower than xc.

dude same here, though money wise i will be ready to purchase in january but the lack of information on the hm901 makes me undecisive if i want the ibasso dx100 or the soon to be released hifiman hm901. i wish they can at least release some new info and updates on the player, it is a 1000 bucks player, i think we deserve to know some of the specs... back to the dx100, what do you mean new UI? the newer ibasso dx100 has new UI?

No, sorry about the lack of clarity there. I am actually referring to the new Hifiman UI, I think it looks interesting.

I am involved in the development community for Android, so I already know that OS inside and out. I wish the DX100 would get upgraded to Android 4.X but I don't think it's happening, given its SoC. I could live with that if it had an XC slot. And I could probably live with the HC slot if it was getting Jelly Bean. But both? tougher pill to swallow. It really is amazing how much a step up Android 4 is.

what is jelly bean? what is the advantage of having a new version of android? im familiar with android because my phone is android (perhaps not the latest software though because my phone is 1 year old). i expect myself to be able to use the dx100 easily because i already have experience with android system.

Android 4.1-4.2 is Jelly Bean, your phone is probably on 2.2 or 2.3. (FroYo and Gingerbread - Android OS versions are codenamed before their release by desserts in alphabetical order). Jelly Bean is faster, much smoother, the built in apps are much improved, with more rich notifications, overall the user experience is well beyond what it used to be. You will be able to use the DX100, most certainly. And in reality, since it's really a DAP, the version difference isn't going to be as bad as it is on a phone, but I had to use 2.X recently for a few days, and was frustrated. I actually have multiple versions loaded on my phone, and even booting in to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich, the version just before Jelly Bean) I have frustrations, haha.

None of these things are deal breakers for the DX100, but the quibbles are enough for me (given that I am happy with my current DAP) to wait and see what the 901 is like, or to find a sweet deal on a DX100 in the classifieds here.

Honestly android is the very reason that the DAP is limited to 16/44 on other music programs. I really don't see the advantage of using android until this is fixed period.

That's an excellent point, even with USB audio enabled (finally) as of 4.1, it's still 16/44.

This is actually a kernel level issue. Not so easily changed.

What do you mean? Dx100 has 24/192 playback right?
