Own a LG 37LH30 TV with an optical digital audio (Toslink) output.  No headphone jack.

I own a pair of decent Bose in ear headphones, and other headphones.   May purchase Sennheiser RS120 or other wireless phones also.

Considering purchasing for my setup:

Fiio E 6 or E7 (I can get a new E7 for $65.00)
and

Audio Converter -- Toslink to Analog, for example (about $20.00):

Will this configuration (short of purchasing a medium end Home Audio Theater System) be sufficient to hear the TV audio sound through the headphones?

I'm not a techie and only wish to hear the TV audio over the A/C which is on and kinda loud in the summer months.

Am price/ cost sensitive and don't want to go broke to be able to use a pair of headphones with the TV.

just make sure your TV can support Dolby Digital Downmixed function so you can output LPCM through your TV's optical out.

and them you need a DAC to convert the digital signal to analog signal , and them use a headphone amp to drive your headphone.

our solution is D3+E6, it is enough to you.

Thanks.  I do need a bit of a translation/ verification though:

When you wrote solution as D3 + E6,

I presume you meant that the  Toslink to Analog converter (D3) plus the E 6.

I called LG customer service and they confirmed that the

Sewell D-BLOQ Digital to Analog Audio Converter

MODEL: SW2 29299 converter ought to work.

If my interpretation of what you wrote is correct, I'll order them pronto.

Thanks again.
Robert
