Cowon D3 A/V cable

Does anyone know if there is any alternative to this?

Are there any options that are low-profile (for portable) and don't even have the video cables? I just need coax audio out for my iBasso D12 and home theater receiver.

As far as I know, that one is the only one. For my needs I DIY it a little...

Wow, that's quite cool. I'm guessing you cut the cable, and resoldered to the coax line. Is it hard to do?

Jep, I cut off the other three, shortened and resoldered the coax line. No it is no hard, DIY-ing is quite a fun :)

I bought one D3 A/V cable even before buying a Cowon D3 because that cable was the last one I could find in US. Then I gave up the idea of buying a D3. I would like to sell this cable now, please PM me if you need this cable.

@ seekadds

I think you can cut off the cables that you do not need, without affecting the coaxial output.

just what I was looking for.  The exact set-up I was planning on, except I thought there was an easier/more portable way of getting the digital signal from D3   :(

How does this sound, by the way?  I found the J3 didn't really improve much with the E17 (to my ears).  J3 didn't need an amp at all and I find the headphone jack to be extremely clean.  I'm hoping the D3 will sound as good as the J3 did (some people seem to swear they sound the exact same -_-).  As much as the J3 interface was OK, even with a little lag issues I think the D3 will be almost as good as Poweramp..  Here's hoping

:) well, it is an esoteric portable setup. There is no cable maker who specializes on making an SPDIF cable for the D3 to feed portable DACs. On the other hand, it is fun to DIY stuff... :D

Feeding the E17 with the digital signal is quite a nice thing. It sounds very good (the E17 sounds very good). The D3 can only do 16/44 stuff (the processor cannot go beyond). I did not try to amplify the analog signal (HO) from the D3. I asume it sounds as good as your J3+E17 combination.

To be honest, if you do not plan to use the SPDIF feature of the D3, just do not buy it. It will play 320K mp3s nicely, but FLACs need some time to change from track to track. There is no lag during the playback of a FLAC file. I wanted to say this, because, somwhere I read this and it is not true. Also, 100% sure Android, unless the device has more than 1ghz, is useless for a pure music device! Better stick with your J3! :)

I have a Cowon V5, D3 and D2+. To me they sound 99% the same.

Hi RAFA,

I would like to make my Own D3 "SPDIF" cable (COAX).

As I have seen you modified the cable by yourself.

Do you have any idea, which PIN is for the SPDIF (COAX)  signal and its GND?

Coz I have a spare Cowon Cable, I don't want to waste USD$20 to buy a new one....

Many Thanks!

Hi,

There is a wire with this red isolation, this is the Coax pin. The wire wrapped around is GND.

Hopefully this could help you, if not, just ask :)

EDIT: probably I answered your question wrong. I did not look up the pins inside the connector. I just cut of the other ones.

Thanks a lot first!

Just that i don't have that cable but usb one,
May be i have to test the signal of each pin and trial and error to test.

No matter what, thanks for your quick reply.
Just wanna plug the spdif to my ibasso d12 asap...

Cheers!

Besides, i got my d3 coax cable finally.

But the issue is,

When the coax cable is connected to the d3 while it is idle for a long time,
It will freeze at the screen off condition.

I have to plug it to the ac power supply and reset it

Anyone got any idea? Thanks!
