Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier - Page 2

Doesn't say much but fully symmetrical. Who knows what balanced implementation it will use. Going by it's smaller size I assumed it was a bridged design, considering it also has a DAC inside to share room.

Interesting. Does this mean Sennheiser will be selling balanced cables for the 600 and 800?

I hope the amplifier will be as good as some of their headphones because it's not cheap.

Might they be implying high out-put impedance?

^Bingo...and we will propagate it to the fullest. For ~$2000 does it COME with a HD800. Jk....I know, I know, sorry about my wallet.

Just something random.  Ti makes DACs too don't forget.

Why not plan for a major electronics show where you can announce the product and then ship it in volume within a couple of weeks?

CanJam@RMAF 2012 is right after the supposed launch and I'd bet that Sennheiser will be at the show to display the new amp, along with most likely the HD700, and maybe other new stuff. More info on RMAF including date & location: http://audiofest.net/2012/index.php

CanJam@RMAF is a major event/show for the Head-Fi audience. Anyone even a little bit interested in headphones should make it out to that event. Start saving up now if you need to. tongue.gif

Impressions threads from each CanJam@RMAF installment so far:

And the impressions thread from the last independent CanJam in Chicago in 2010 (there wasn't one in 2011 and most likely there won't be another either, unfortunately):

Oh man, excited about this!  Name is kinda.... weird?  2x4-pin outs!

I wonder if Sennheiser will once again choose a handful of Head-Fiers to preview this new product. I want to know who to bribe to be in on it this time. wink.gif

This is great.  I sure hope this amp will sound great with lower impedance phones as well.

Looks like Sennheiser just solved my upgrade problem. Buying on launch day. Maybe Jude could get an exclusive interview with some tech specifics?

Safe to say Sennheiser is going to offer balanced cables soon I guess.

i thought of lehmann also when i saw this - wouldnt surprise me if there was some collaboration as Senn were using the BCL at trade shows so maybe there is a connection but then again they will be competitors wont they ?

Anyway im very excited about the possibility of Senn perhaps creating the perfect amp to drive the HD800's - you would expect it to be up there with the best and if reviews prove that it is up there or even better then im sure it will sell very well and add another jewel to the Senn crown.

I'm skeptical.

Does it have special sauce inside to sound good with both HD650 and HD800? :D
