Can you post the pic because I don't want to have to join the forum to view it.

I hope this amp gets released soon! I need to make a decision on either that, the bryston bha-1 or the mjolnir. None of which are out yet! blink.gif

It looks the same as the HDVD800. Google it.

The window is kinda cool I suppose but the back panel not lining up with the end of the casing does not look so hot.

it seems that the hdv800 is the first virtual headphone amplifier .....

Do you guys think as an HD800 and Auditor owner (missing a good dac) my best option is to wait for the HDV800 or buy a high-end dac right now?

I don't mind spending alittle bit more for the ultimate combo... the HDV800 would certainly be a great dac option and amplfier since I would want to upgrade the amp somewhere down the road aswell ...

what would you guys do?

I have a Phonitor so I know the sound. I would say HDV800 will probably be a convenient DAC/amplifier, not necessarily a great one. Sennheiser have traditionally paired their headphones with lean, fast, resolutive SS amplifiers (like Lehmann). Do you like that sort of sound? Chances are, you might not enjoy this German, detailed but a little sterile sound (assuming that the amplifier will be voiced like this), however you will pay a premium for the brand. And a DAC board, added to the equation, will certainly not be able to compete with the likes of Lavry or Benchmark but, again, if you are after a one box, easy to use solution, this will certainly be an option.

I don't have big expectations for this Senn release to be honest but, if I would be you, I would do the most difficult thing in this world. Temper my itch to spend the money and wait until HDV800 will be available. Then you can make an informed decision, with the money in your pocket. Nobody can tell you how it will sound, you will have to try it and decide for yourself. To me the two SPL amplifiers will be hard to beat because of their unusually kind treatment to my ears - so far it's the only amp I can use for hours with no ear fatigue.

How good is the imaging options with the crossfeed switches for the phonitor? I've added it to my radar since I'm looking for a amp under 2000$. What other amps have you compared it to and how does it stack up? One head-fier told me it produced much better results and had better synergy than a WA22 with HD 800's. That's what's really tempting me to buy it.
