I haven't heard any dynamic custom IEMs if that's what you're asking. 

Compared to JH13s the IE800 has less perceived details, is slower, darker and warmer. But that's differences in sound signature, and pretty typical ones at that for BA vs dynamic.

I haven't compared soundstage and imaging but I did not get any impression that the soundstage of the IE800 is particularly narrow/shallow. I might be heading down to the retailer this weekend and if I do so, I'll take closer notice of these areas. I'm sorry I can't be of much help until then..

The general impression is that these wowed me.

That's why I'd like to try out the Future Sonic Custom IEM. The only custom IEM using dynamic driver that I know...

I compared them briefly to my JH13s.

 

Bass is prominent, but I never found it bloated, even compared to my JH13s.

 

Agreed on mids. They were actually the first thing that caught my attention, not the bass (might be my song, too).

 

Treble for me is not hot at all (compared to the 13s, at least).

 

Overall balance is quite good, beyond what I expected, partly because I'm under the impression that the IE line is very bass heavy.

 

Speed wise it's quite good for a dynamic pair, but there's a gap between these and the 13s.

 

Loved the build of the wires, but the cinch is way too high for wearing them over-the-ear.

I have an UM Miracle and the IE800 certainly compares very well to it in terms of sound quality.

But like what James have mentioned, it's not the sound quality that ultimate lets IE800 down.

if you did own the EX-1000 please try to compare it against that. I am in market for a good dynamic IEM, I have cash for the EX-1000, if the IE800 is worth it I can always save.

for some weird reason, the local sellers of ie800 here has almost the same price with a discounted k3003 which has always having a discount throughout the year

i guess the better pick in our country is a k3003

Thanks! The truth is James, I have been planning to buy these headphones from the day that they were announced. I have wanted a high-end dynamic vented IEM for some time. Here is a picture that I put together in Photoshop way back in May when we were discussing the IE800's Giger-like design on here. It is one of my favorite Windows 7 desktop backgrounds. Now I finally own the headphones that I have been staring at!

Unfortunately I have not heard the EX-1000.The Sony Store in HK did not have a display model.

Thanks. It will be a few days before I post any impressions. I will say that I am having fun exploring these interesting headphones. So far, with a few caveats / usage notes, they look to be a good purchase and to be keepers.

Is the EX1000 out of production? I can't find it on any of Sony's product websites.

I have IE 80s and love the sound of dynamic drivers as opposed to BAs. A good  listen to the XB4As and Klipsch X10s was enough to convince me.

James, that is indeed Gigeresque bleak.  :-)

Definitely on my shopping list for next year...damn you head-fi...
