Sennheiser unfortunately dont like their dealers doing that and come up with methods to put themselves in the loop so they can monitor sales
In New Zealand it was impossible to buy the HD800's without providing ID and a receipt for full price to Sennheiser. Not sure how they get away with it, maybe because its high end audio and no body complains. A company selling whiteware tried to do the same thing and were hauled over the coals by the regulatory authorities so in principle it is illegal
