Microphonics are annoying too. Wearing them over ear isn't comfortable
because of the Y-Splitter

I'm probably going to return them. Too many compromises for such an expensive IEM.
Very frustrating because the sound is great.

The store I got mine from chucked in a shirt clip with them which helps a lot with the cable noise and helps stop the weight of the wire pulling then out of my ears. I did a 10 km walk with the dog yesterday and they stayed in perfect and were very comfortable. It still has some cable noise but I only noticed it between songs or in quiet parts. I dont think the noise is much more than with my shure se535 and it's just the thud of my footsteps. Maybe I just need to walk better ! wink.gif

I've said it before and I'll say it again: anyone with an IE800 and an aptX-enabled source should try to go wireless. Sound quality for on the go is almost indistinguishable from wired, but comfort is 200% better.

Just saying... :smile_phones:

Has anyone had a rattle from one of their transducers on these? I noticed a rattle in the right ear with bass soI ran some test tones and sure enough my right headphone has a rattle!!! Gutted. Looks like they are going back.

actually I'm not sure if I really need this kind of high SQ when outside in a noisy environment at all.

I feel I am not able to really focus and appreciate it when communting in a crowded train and when walking around.

Althoug I think the tonal balance really fits for such use case.

sorry but can you elaborate what you mean by rattle? I also notice some noise coming from the iem when I push it into my ear, it doesnt happen all the time though but I notice it especially when there's no music on. Is this normal?

I also notice that sound when pushing them into to ear.

Try avoid blocking the vents when inserting them. I think it may be some driver flex.

If problem seems when song is playing, transducer or diaphragm is deffective. You can replace it at Sennheiser.

Currently I'm comparing how the IE800 vs. HD800 does female vocals (emiliana torrini)

I have to say the IE800 is just stunning in that department.

The IE800 does it better in my opinion. Emiliana sounds so clear, while still being soft and natural.

I've been a fan of Sony IEMs for a long time, but these little things are truly impressive...

I miss mine already . They are in transit at the minute back to the store. As soon as they confirm the fault they will send a new pair out. Hopefully have them this time next week.

I just brought a new pair as I'm still waiting on the ones I sent back got tired of waiting as I'm in the Philippines right now and sometimes it takes forever to get things sent back and confirmed for new it's been over a month now kind of upsets me considering how much they were and the split strain reliefs were probably due to the upper cables being so stiff, when I received them I thought that's the way they came so I didn't know...I loved the sound but had some small issues with the cable which frustrated me but I kept them ended up purchasing the Shure SE 846 and they are very nice I like them got them soon after I sent the 800s back. The Shures have a nice sound the bass is nice and the mids are forward...I was starting to miss the 800s though I love the sound the bass is deep and the highs are nice not extremely harsh to me once they burn in...I'm going to now have to send the Shures back because there's play in the nozzles where they have a seal which I assume allows for slight give around the nozzle but maybe it should've been made of another material, I don't know but I will send them back as I fear it could become worse much later...With this I'm able to go back to listening to the iE800 to do further comparisons....I really like the smaller size of the 800s and haven't had major problems with fit the new pair I brought seem to have a few small changes first with the cable, the top portion is very flexible. The sound was very nice right out of the box and has been improving through hours of play, you can tell the difference with material played through them, though to me a great deal more so than the Shures and I'm running a balanced cable with them...listening to everything from DSD, FLAC, AIFF, AAC 24/44.1- 24/192- 24/96- 16/44.1 (I could only imagine what the 800s sound like balanced) as I run them with the AK240 sounds very nice as my old pair did.....well I guess I'll have a new pair that should come back to me sometime this year ☺️ And I'll have a decision to make about the Shures when I send them back to be replaced....I'll decide whether to keep the new pair of Shure or sell them ....decisions decisions .....But it does give me a great amount of time to spend with both before deciding, and yes I'll have two pair of 800s but my lady likes the 800s so one pair will be hers, I just will have to decide whether to keep the 800s or the Shures....It's just something about dynamic drivers though 💕💕

How much noise leakage is there from having these vented?  I'm after something that's easy to put in, comfortable, discrete but blocks noise quite well as I would be using these in an office.  Customs and I don't get on that well for some reason so looking for alternatives.  I listen to rock and audiobooks out of either a 7th gen classic or clip plus.  I also tend to listen to 5-6 hours a day each day.

Thanks
