Sennheiser IE800 IEM's - Page 113

I know, it supposed to be semi-open, like IE80, but for some reason it does not benefit from it. It sounds absolutely (well, almost) closed to me. Out of IEMS that i heard those have some kind of soundstage: IE8/80, Radius DDM, EX1000, FX700. Thats all. IE800 is not belong to the list, unfortunately.

It is your think, respect your idea no problem. But I think they should not be compared. They are in different classes.

How is the performance with Colorfly C4 ? Which is better with IE800,DX50 or C4 ?

I was wondering that nobody mentioned this before. IE800 has basically NO soundstage at all to me, meaning similar to all sealed IEMs and closed cans (HD25, ER4P comes to my mind).

While switching from IE80 or DDM to IE800 it becomes brutally apparent. Soundscape collapses drastically, everything becomes small, tiny, claustrofobic... in my head.

This is the only aspect that bothers me. Actually I prefer IE80 in 80% of the time due to this. But I listen to classic most of the time. I cannot stand sealed designs at all.

hmm I think I get what you are saying but I dont think its overly small.  Its not a strength thats for sure.

How is the performance with Fiio X5 and IHIFI 760 ? Did/Does anybody listen them ?

Sonic bliss with the AK240. Not sure about the 'look' though. Too much green.

Yes I too would love to know more about the IE800/AK240 combo.  I am thinking about using same rig to listen to.

I'm sorry guys for my brevity. It's a great combo. Everything the AK120 combo IE800 had with the addition of a smooth Hi-Fi well balanced sound. The AK120 (IMHO) was great and did add a little more colour to the combo mix. More emotion too. Please have a look at the AK240 threads. There's a 'mainstream' one and an 'impressions' thread. Also a newly published review (last few days) of the AK240. I think you'll find them all very useful.

I just wanted to wet your appetite - spread the word. I think the AK240 will be a classic player (I know, I know about the cash) but that doesn't stop it being in its own league (at the moment).

When I saw the MSRP on the AK240.…Holy s…
And people thought I was crazy for IE8s for gym IEMs, LOL.

Is the SQ worth the Mt Olympus entry price? That PMP is art, I'll give them that.

I recently read a very interesting objective review of the I phone 5s and it's capabilities as a hi fi device. Basically as long as you plug efficient low impedance headphones into it like the ie800 you will get transparent sound. It measures very well. Dedicated portable headphone amps are only necessary for more power hungry cans.

Here is the review if anyone is interested. It made me realise I don't need an extra expensive thing to carry around to enjoy my iems .

If the ie800 impedance is 16, and the output impedance of the iphone 5s is around 3, then wouldn't it be a little too high for the ie800?

The IE800's impedance measures flat across the frequency range, so high output impedance isn't a problem.

(But even for non-flat impedance phones, the effect of 3 ohms OI is negligible)

İbasso DX50 or iHİFİ 760 ? Did/does anybody listen them ? And which is better with IE800 ?
