What are some of the most epic songs of all time?

By epic, I mean songs that overwhelm you and make you feel amazing, like you could do anything. They can be of any genre, but preferably classic or metal. An example would be the "Mind Heist" from Inception, or "Horn of Plenty" from The Hunger Games score, or Lux Aeterna.

Show me Your Soul- Red Hot Chili Peppers

great motivational song when in love ;3

"I don't think it's strange that I'm in love with you"

Just wish my headphones did it better justice <.<

Requium is an obvious choice. Good ol' 1812 is a great pick.

As for more 'modern' stuff...

Any of the 'We Are the World' recordings. Riviera Paradise by SRV, BT's This Binary Universe and both sides of These Hopeful Machines (I count these as single songs as they flow seemlessly).

There's of course tons more, but those are some of my personal favorites.

EDIT: If you want an epic feel rather than just an epic song...Hammerfall's Crimson Thunder, Iced Earth's Another Holy War (or anything by them, Demons and Wizards or Iced Earth).

Guile's theme from the Street Fighter series. Goes with everything (look it up). But it is truly epic if it starts at just the right moment.

Case in point:

(Turn down your volume a little for this.)

Eh, I'm not very fond of any of the songs listed. Requiem was the only one that appealed. The rest aren't really my taste. But I appreciate the input!

Nightwish's "Once" album is pretty 'epic' by my standards.

Anything by Immediate Music or Epic Score...because they literally write 'epic music' for trailers and what have you.

Personally? A TON of Gorillaz songs give me goosebumps and feel 'epic' to me. Notably Clint Eastwood, Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head, Feel Good Inc., etc.

Even mellow stuff like Melancholy Hill gives me shivers. I had to watch to video for that to happen, but after that...man that song just is epic to me.

Check out Sigur Ros - Untitled 8.  For me, the definition of epic.

I don't really find video games music very epic.

I think the main skyrim song is epic.

Mayonnaise by The Smashing Pumpkins

certain songs by Coheed and Cambria could apply here

- "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3" and "Welcome Home" immediately come to mind.

stuff off the Star Wars score:  The Imperial Death March and Duel of the Fates (Darth Maul's Theme) ALWAYS gets me hyped.

most post-rock I find just colossal. see Explosions of the Sky - The Birth and Death of a Day, or Alcest - Autre Temps (and some of Alcest's older stuff is more on the metal side), or any Godspeed You! Black Emperor song.  it's just an epic genre by nature.

Between the Buried and Me, might be on the extreme side of metal (but then again, depending on what you've heard, they might be tame to you.  They're tame to me tongue_smile.gif) but they have some very, very epic songs.  see:  Selkies: The Endless Obsession,

and as much as I hate to recommend this one ... Muse's Knights of Cydonia.
