What do you value most in a earphone and ill tell you if in my opinion you should open the ASG-1s!

I love instrument separation.  I like being able to hear the instruments from different spots.  I want to be able to pick out the guitar to my right, and the kick drum to my left.  I want superior isolation, perfect comfort, great durability.  I love warm sounding headphones with slightly upfront mids.  I like A LOT of treble, just below the verge of being fatiguing to the ears.

Okay your asking a lot hear! ASG-1s will happily provide your upfront mids and instruments were you want them with the immense soundstage that it has. As for treble these do not have a lot at all and for instrument separation and extremely forward treble then you maybe be wanting DBA-02! For Durability the ASg-1s will last forever an maybe the DBA not! Comfort and isolation are actually perfect for me with the ASG-1s but as for you there something that will depend on your ears and the only way to find out is too listen!

These are all my experiences that i am saying to hel you find what your look for but not to tell you as people may not agree with me!

EDIT: The way you've put you want the treble id have to say DBA-02 for that alone! Check my review in my signature, the name says it all!

how easy do you think I could sell them on here for $180.00? I really want to listen to them.  But If I open them.. that might lower the value! haha.  Well, I've decided what Ill do. I'm going to decide out of the asg1 and the fxt90 which I like more.  Ill keep one, sell one, and just save up my money for an SM3 or UM3X

That's a pretty cheap price so I reckon quote easily but that's not for me to say! Now if you are going to give them a listen you have to do it properly and burn them in enough so that they get to their true sound! Don't jump to conclusions with them!
Are you sure you want one of those too as other than build the sound you want seems to me to be more the DBA-02 of you have that much if a love for treble!

I suggest keeping them for a week - giving them some more burn-in (as i didn't have that much on em) and trying to see if you really like/dislike them.

Then decide what to do :)

Possibly that you didn't personally like them. Fair enough, but speak for yourself ... not everyone else.

I wish you'd occassionally qualify your posts with something along the lines of "In my opinion..." but you just make statements as if they are facts.

Seems like you enjoy targeting, oh well. What I meant is that many people tend to overrate these to some point. It's not horrible in any way, just a little overrated. I find them to have recessed treble, too forward mids, boomy bass and too closed-in soundstage, sure many people could enjoy it, but there aren't many others that could as well.

In that case, if you want them so badly, you should just save for it. And maybe you can even upgrade to the ES3x in the future.

I'm not speaking for myself since lord knows I can't make a decision but in your case, if it's what you want - save for it and get it!  It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks and you won't know until you try it.

That's true, although it's very hard for some people to buy IEMs/headphones without trying. So it's rather to take the gamble.

The reason I started looking farther afield is that the only ER4Ps I could find before I bought the UM3Xs were $300.  I paid $120 for my ER4Ps, as new with all accessories.  At the tiem I think they were going for $200 NIB so I assumed that for $300 I should be able to find something better.

That said, I can probably track down the ER4s; I'm sure I haven't properly lost them, just haven't seen them in the last 4 months 3:

I would recommend you to just get another ER-4, but if you eventually like the UM3x more, then bonus to you. Even joker rated the ER-4 and UM3x to be the same, so costing more should not really justify the price... (but if you want a little more warmth, you probably will be happy)

I see, you can do a comparison on which one you prefer when you ever find it.

You got the ER-4S? You will need an amp for that, it sounds soft even at full volume, should have got the ER-4P ;), but then again, it's not cheap. Yes, the EX-1000 is very neutral and balanced.
