@ James...nice pics of the new little Schitt!! This seems to be the best thing going for a budget amp/dac if you don't need something portable.

Hey...the top of that desk needs to be refinished!! tongue.gif

Re the desk: I moved recently, temporarily with the in-laws. No room for my nice desk right now!

And yes, these have a ton of power and performance. Super satisfied right now.

It continues today.  I'm trying to figure out the exact cause. One thing that happened just prior to that may be the cause. I sometimes listen to a sansa clip plugged into the e07k. Well, after using it like this for a while I grabbed the clip to listen to it without the e07. I forgot that the clip was turned to max volume. redface.gif Inserted a pair of iem's and well...you can guess the rest. It was about 3 seconds before I was able to hit the pause button. The other possibility is that I've done more listening these days with my full sized hp's.

I don't listen loudly. The lyr is usually between 9-11 on the dial.

Any suggestions are appreciated...

Matt - as someone mentioned, take a break from listening for a day or more, it is probably a bit of short term tinnitis from the sudden loud shock your ears got.

Also, I know this is blastphemy but I know an audiologist and she always tells me not to listen to headphones continuously for long periods at a time - and I should always take a break from listening after an hour or so to give your ears a rest -  as that can also cause tinnitis, which I sometimes get.

@ James. Congrats on the new stuff. If you heard the he400 on my Schitt stack you'd **** your pants. Nah, jk. Past what you've already got the gains are quite minimal. Improvements, yes. It's all about what you're willing to spend to get those last few percentage points. The he400 is so easy to drive it's just really not worth it unless you have other more hard to drive hp's.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for the info. I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and take some time off the hp's. Work is slow for me now so it's a tough proposition.

The J-money pads just came. they are fantastic, the HE-400 sounds so much like my Lcd-2 now it is scary. I had a bit of doubt due to the fact the Denon J-money's were so horrible on them, I could not have been more wrong. Loving the taming of the treble as well.

Where did you buy them?

Oh, I'm not sure what they are going for now. He's not the original seller. The original person, Jeremy moved to Europe and was kind enough to send wje the rest of his stock. I'm sure wje is selling them at a good price, for anyone that wants them.

Edit: I believe it's wje who has the stock.

Anyone that uses the j$ pads wanna post some pictures with them on their HE400? Im curious to see how they look. Also does it have the same locking mechanism as the stock hifiman pads?

I can post some pics of mine later on of the headphones and my rig (I'm at work now lol) but I must say, these pads make the he400 look really really good.

You have to take the locking mechanism (the plastic ring with the tabs) out from another set of pads and install them on the J$ pads. Granted there is no dust screen so you have to come up with a solution for that if you want it.

I'd appreciate those pic thanks.

As for the plastic ring, I did the jergpad mod a few days back where I glued a dust screen to the plastic ring from my pleathers, I could use those biggrin.gif

Just got my o2 and odac units. Sounds real nice.  Been over a week since I've heard the he-400 on a real amping solution, as the mixamp could use a little more volume.  Initial impressions on only a few minutes of listening is that the bass becomes more pronounced and the soundstage opens.  However, I've got an issue.  I hear hissing when the odac is plugged in in the left driver.  This does not take place when I just use the o2.  I am using the o2 with what charge it came with on battery power, as I'm still waiting on my mouser transformer.  Any thoughts?  The hissing was very bad when I first hooked it into my hp work laptop and was actually distorting the music.  When I hook it to my pc I can only hear when using high volume or when the music is off.  This hissing grows louder on high gain.

For those in the US who have ordered the J$ pads from Jeremy.. did anyone get tracking info or have they received their pads?  Just curious as I paid for mine over a week ago ago and no correspondence since.  I know he's moving to Paris, but I didn't get a PM with tracking info or shipping confirmation.

Yup. You definitely could use those. I opted for a piece of nylon from my wife's stockings. I like it better than any of the stock filters as it is the most transparent. I'm not sure how these pads will sound with a thicker screen. But you can experiment with the rings from the velours and hear the difference.

No tracking info for me or anyone i think. They just showed up. Granted for you they are going cross boarder so it could take longer 10-20 days cause of customs. Probably up to 4 weeks but that is like worst case scenario. Just wait a bit longer.
