User Modulor made them for some people, but I don't think he's taking orders for the time being. The jergpads are basically a DIY mod. If you put up a classified here, you could probably find someone who would make you some. Or you could just give it a shot.

Just ordered mine along with a pair of velour pads, eta 1 week.

Now the question for me is, do I use my AK120 thru RSA Hornet or computer thru Audio~gd 11.32 to complete my office rig.

Any and all comments welcomed!

Some say its bright.  Some say its warm. Some say it doesn't have much of a tube sound.  Some say it has a tube sound.  How about the MK1+?  Seems like it can power the HE400 fine but its a hybrid.  Will it really have a true tube sound?  How tubey will the sound be?  Will I be able to judge whether I like the tube sound or not based on a hybrid?  Or maybe I should stop playing around with lower end amps and get the Lyr? But is it really worth almost 4x the price of the Vali?  Does it sound 4x as good.  Some people say no.  I understand it maybe worth it with a HE500 or LCD-2 but its not clear if its worth it for the HE400.

Yeah I hear you about that. Reading reviews and deciding what to get can be really frustrating. IMO, it's best to just engage yolo mode and get something. Don't worry too much about what the absolute best choice would be. Most of this equipment sounds good.

I hope that you have a private office or that your office mate shares the same interest in music as you. ;)

Interesting, I have about 50 hours.  So maybe I'll wait for the magic to happen.  Yes, I have them amped.

How do you like my new headphone rack? It's a grundtal from ikea. $8 plus 3" screws, washers and I cut a 3/8 PVC pipe to serve as a 2" spacer. smily_headphones1.gif

Hence the appearance of the HE-400 in the "Cyber Monday" environment.

Just ordered a Vali; going to enjoy my new "old" HE-400's with that for a while before I start getting upgradeitis.

Great find!

I hate to say it, but the new headband looks fugly. Not that it really matters. And it looks like they still have those coaxial connectors. Oh well. I hope they add an HE-6 replacement so I can get an HE-6 on discount...

Ha, I agree on the aesthetics of the headband on the new model, really looks ugly. Looks like it could be a comfortable design though.

Just wanted to say I picked up the Schiit Magni and Modi for Christmas to use with my HE-400 and they sound excellent together. I upgraded from a Fiio E17 and the Magni and Modi are a more then worthy upgrade over the Fiio.

Holy schiit! I'm totally loving the new design. It looks like Hifiman has improved on the shortcomings of their current lineup. Improved comfort (headband), and improved weight.

That HE-400i is probably what was discussed on this thread a while back; an improved HE-400 with it's problem areas fixed, or at least I hope so.

Just me and my wife and will listen a low level.

I'm more concerned about paying $399. vs price drop and the new improved model. Maybe I should cancel and wait?

You can probably find a used one for ~$300 here.

Frankly I'm not too pleased with the new HE look.  They recycled the same cup design, cable attachment and velour pads, then added a ****tier, diy looking stax suspension band and gimbals.  I'm sure they look better in person though.

If anything I was hoping for a oval opening wedge shaped leather pad like audeze and higher stax.
