man, for the first time ever, i listened to infected mushroom. The most electronic i have really ever gotten is NIN and how to destroy angels. I am missing the hell out of my he400 right now. The magnum v5 has crazy detail but that bass presence is lost. WHERE IS MY HE4!!! Even still, it wont beast out bass like the he400 from what ive read. Someone on here please crank up some infected mushroom on their 400 for me. And tell me how good it sounds....

It's really damn good. Probably the best music to complement HE400s.

Sorry man, I don't have anything that drives HE4s.

Anyhow, in the end I still like my uber-modded HE500s more even with EDM music like Infected Mushrooms, there is a full-bodied-ness to HE500's bass that is just so satisfying, even if it doesn't punch as tight as HE400.

Mostly anything. Metal, rock, orchestral, trance, etc. I've been listening to an awful lot of female pop lately though. I'm scared.

Ill let you know how my he4 ends up, shold have it saturday according to fedex . The 400 sounded good, very detailed, great bass, treble i got used to. But i came from grado sr80is. For metal though, they always left me wanting more, thats why i sold them and bought the he4. But, i can remember exactly how the 400s sounded, and once i get the 4s ill let ya know if theres a clear winner. Ya gotta have the amp though, the 400s sounded very close out of my e17 compared to my pioneer. I thought it made a big difference at first, but that was all expectation bias and more than likely the fault of a few beers.

My favorite band

. I've seen them 5 times live. Heavyweight is my favorite song of all time, and it has been for over 5 years. There is nothing out of place in that song, and every time I listen to it, it's like the first time all over again.

As for their trance stuff... Frog Machine... mmmmm

I've just gotten my wood cups in for my HE-400, and I don't even have them yet.

A bit early on the trigger, but I'm pretty keen to get some, should I ever find them for the right price.

I can't ever find consistent reports about this sibilance issue, however. Some say it's a big deal, others can't hear it. Very odd.

Were the driver revisions really that much of a change?

You would have to have some pretty severe hearing loss to not notice the sibilance lol.

The HE400 will emphasise sibilance if it is in the recording, however other than this and the slightly "tizzy" sounding treble they are very good in almost every way, excellent bass, mids, speed, seperation, imaging, open, good soundstage, they are the most technically capable headphones I have used, they are not perfect though due to the strange treble, this is the compromise with these headphones at this price. Luckily it can be fixed pretty well and sound good, whereas for example headphones which sound slow or do not have bass quantity, you can EQ / mod them all you want but you will not fix those issues.
