Ohh if you like the dt880, I'd tend to say it is natural to like the j$/HE-400 as I remember there being a resemblance (the j$ pads sound kinda cold-ish and distant with a decent amount of treble going off memory)

But just to weigh in, I've gone through modular's exhaustive photo instructions and the quality of his work is incredible. For $60 he's definitely not trying to make money here; this is a great buy to any considering them.
For the record, ^this was for anybody in general, not meant towards Mshenay specifically

Yeaper, I do like the Dt 880 and I like the J$money with the HE 400, as it is colder than the Pleathers by far,

the J$money He 400 has a deeper tighter bass over the dt 880, with much more low mids, all things that are great for EDM. In every other genre of music I prefer the Dt 880

still though, cold-ish would be the word. and let's not forget I am a treble head q.q

Don't talk about those dt880, I can't stand 'em, lol. Funny thing, I have never missed the HE-400 after getting the 500's. For me, the 500's is just a better 'phone.

Interesting, I wouldn't have expected that. Maybe the dampening effects that the J$'s have on dynamics cannot be compared to that of orthos...? They definitely make my dynamic cans sound way bassier. Maybe, as you and davidsh mentioned, they have a more brightening effect with orthos. Not sure my curiosity is high enough to peel off modulor's pads

Oh I know, I just happend to be the scape goat for this conversation :D and it's ok I'm used to being the Scape Goat

and sadly for normal music my EDM eq works nicely as well :O A drop to the Mid Bass n Low mids, with a bump in 1000-5k hrz, then a dipo at 7-10k then back to 0 in the 11k-20k hrz bump

also, the bass is a tighter on the HE 400, a little less Decay, something I like for Reggae, but vocals and guitars suffer on the he 400

muhahaha, you really should give in to the curiosity, just so that you can "hear it" at least once.

also what the heck let's try all three ...

So yea the pleathers sound thicker, not something I like, there is more well decay everywhere. The bass is bigger, not as tight, and the sound stage as a whole sounds... not as clear

to stock velours, much clearer. I like the mids better on the Velours, yet teh bass is kinda meh

the J$money pads, mids are simmilar to velours, not as smooth... the bass... OH there is MORE of it than Velour, yet it's not thick like the Pleathers

WOW sounds like just what I wanted from the pads, a sound simmilar to velour but with a touch more bass. WIN WIN

I have tried all of the pads mentioned and the J-money pads sound great to my ears, the tame the treble and have good bass response.

 We all hear different.

Did I mention they are also super comfy and damn sexy :3

As long as you like the sound then that is all that matters, some people like Grado, some people like HD650... 2 completely different sounds, I would recommend trying the Jergpads at some point though.... Never tried the J$ pads so I have no idea what they sound like....

Oh I plan to, trust me I either go 100% or not at all, so getting them one day is a must! Trust me this is coming from a guy Who paid $100 for new pads for a w1000x, and did I mention I modded it my self... I'll get them one day :D or maybe I will FINALLY go to a FREAKING meet and try them there >.>

In my country there is a meet every year being held 40-80 kilometres from where I live.. Not bad

I find it funny that my entire country is smaller than most of the states in the US... 6 million people or so. But we do have our own community after all!
