So back to HE-400s.  I am wondering how soon we will get to hear modulor's awesome looking jerpags!

AFAIK he's mailed the first pair to me already, it should arrive within a couple of days. The rest will probably follow.

Well I'll just shut up then. Kinda new here, so please forgive me for my obvious ignorance...

Yup, hopefully they'll arrive mid week - can't wait to see your assessment smily_headphones1.gif ...for the rest, my target is that they'll all be ready to ship early-mid next week, and I didn't have time to get the tutorial together this weekend, so it'll definitely be ready sometime this week.  I've been getting steady interest still, so odds are there will be another run in the fall.

Have been enjoying the HE-400s the past weeks and my NFB-5 is hardly burned in, maybe 35-40 hours max. I love them orthos! Also ordered a Forza Audioworks cable. Now if I just could get hold of a pair of jergpads :(

Let us know what you think of the cable! Excited to get my Lyr this week after getting the HE-400 on last Friday! Should sound great, ordered it with the NOS tubes instead of the JJ's.

I just received my HE-400s with Audeze cable connectors modded my Brian at BGT-Audio. I'm very happy with the mod! I'll post pictures when I get my Audio-GD amp/DAC and Forza cable.
I find the headphones to be perfectly comfortable although the clamp pressure is not as much as I'd like. Can any tell me if they have increased the clamp pressure by bending the metal headband and the best way to do it?
Thanks!

Slowly, slowly, slowly

I got my clamp pressure perfect. Go very slowly you don't wanna kink the metal and it is quite thin. But mine has been clamping about the same for some time now so yah it works

Just ordered he-400. Anxious to compare it with the grado ps500 and see which one in going to keep. Anyone have any impressions or comparisons between the two?

I can't compare with the PS500, but I do own the Gs1000i and I prefer the bass texture, space and the comfort of the HE-400 over the Grado, but for straight "in your face" rock and roll I love me some Grado.

That is awesome!  How much was it to mod the headphones like that?  Seems like it would make aftermarket cables way easier to find.

Absolutely.  In fact:

(1) Magnepan -- says right in the owners manual that the speakers pick up additional bass extension after running some 100 hours (without rechecking the manual on my Magnepan 3.6s I think that was the amount of time).  I can also say, after owning 4 pairs of Magnepans over the years, that the speakers improve in other ways too after burn-in.

(2) Beyerdynamic -- I was recently speaking with a B. representative who related that their phones develop additional bass and smoother highs after burn in.  That's been my experience too with the Beyers that I have, and other phones too.

(3) Other manufacturers - It's a fact that there are numerous manufacturers (of both speakers and other electronics) who state in the manual that item's performance improves after a period of break-in.

Conclusion:  Break-in is real.
