Anyone know how much more or less of HIss and EMI has E17 in direct comparison to E12?

....

So in order of preferences:

1. Portable

2. arround 1 watt

3. Batt life over 8 hours

4. dosent overheat too much

5. cheap.

I have called from one cellphone to another (both less than 50sm away from E12 working on a battery) - no audible effect.

I'm guessing E12 V1 was the one with EMI issues.

E12 pairs really good with HE-400, don't think you can find a cheaper option that will drive them that well.

You know what sounds just fantastic on those cans? BADBADNOTGOOD's albums. They're awesome, plus you can find them for free online. D

Nothing new, but these are the albums I've found to be quite enjoyable on these bad boys.

Electronic: Phutureprimitive - Kinetic; The Glitch Mob - Drink The Sea; Sub Focus - Sub Focus

Classical/Orchestral/Electronic: E.S. Posthumous - Cartographer

Swing/Jazz: Brian Setzer Orchestra - The Dirty Boogie

Thank you so much for E.S. Posthumous - it's amazing!

You need to give a listen to "Koan - When The Silence is Speaking". It's electronic ambient. One of my all time favorite albums.

Ok, 2 amazing discoveries in a row. Who wants to make it 3?

Booka Shade - Movements - that's one of my favourites

HE-500 is NOT like the HE-400, know that. You shouldn't exclude the HE-500 because you have heard the HE-400. The only similarities are pretty much the speed of both, and to some degree the sound stage.

My listening volume on E12 is around 11-12AM, so there is plenty unused power left.

What is your listening volume on the e17 with +12dB gain?

Cool. We've got a Denver meet coming up where I'm hoping to hear the HE-500. (Doubt the AD2000X will make a showing.) The 500 was actually what I had targeted before "settling" on the 400. But I became convinced I wouldn't have enough power for the 500 and didn't was to start an upgrade chain reaction. Of course I wound up upgrading power even for the 400 so... The best laid plans and all that.

40 without gain, 25 with +12dB gain

Sounds reasonable, at that volume you shouldn't have problems with the amp not being able to drive the headphones at least...

Speaker amp all the way! Just tried an old speaker amp with my new cable. Delivers some serious kicks in the bass. This particular amp is too noisy, though, but it is more than 20 years old, so no wonder...
