Yup, downloaded, went through all the waves, at 18795 i could still hear it, at 19912 barely, and nothing after that, that i can tell.

Why does HiFiMan recommend 150 hours burn-in for these if the sound doesn't change at all?

And is there a technological reason behind lack of change?

Because there are people that like a cult actually believe burn in exist.

150 hours brain burn in.

Gives you less time to consider refunding evil_smiley.gif

That and of course giving you the chance for brain burn-in, which is pretty important.

Burn-in does exist, as Tyll has proven in a blind test.

I've had a lot of success with burn-in with dynamic and even BA phones (I wasn't listening during burn-in, so it's not mental), but may be planar magnetics are as good  as they get out of the box?

It definitely shortens the return window tongue_smile.gif

I don't listen to the headphones during burn-in, just before and after.

It does often take time to get used to a phone's signature though.

Tyll never did anything of the sort.

He wrote an article about burn-in and gave measurements that showed differences  that were trivial enough to be passed off as headphone placement differences, or below the threshold of hearing, then at the end he concluded he couldn't prove burn in existed or didn't exist.

This. Call it the rotation of the planet, humidity changes, etc, but the changes were so minute, and sporadic, it wasn't a permanent shift towards something better or worse.

I love how people think some mythological force ALWAYS makes ALL headphones better, and fixes all the problems they had with such headphone.

Bass is too weak? Burn in.

Bass is too strong? Burn in.

Mids are too recessed? Burn in.

Mids are too shouty? Burn in.

Treble is too veiled? Burn in.

Treble is too sharp? Burn in.

Give me a break. The only real burn in happening is brain burn in tied with expectation bias.

So I guess the Stax 007s, Audeze pads and jerg's ones are still kind of the best 3 ? I use the Beyer velours and so far they have been 10/10 for comfort anyway.

The only other alternative is the ESP 950 for that price, and while I'm in love with the ESP950 atm, it ultimately reminds me of an open Mad Dog. A bit too safe sounding for my taste. I miss the SR407 and LCD2's more aggressive sound.

Hi , I'm curious about which amp you pair with the Stax SR-407 for $300 (?) as there is quite a jump if you buy the Stax headphone amp with it on ebay...like an $1100 jump !

Huh? The $300 amp is one that is gonna be sold with that new stat. The 407 loaner came with the Stax 252S. A cute little amp, but the 407 sounded just lovely off it.

That was referring to the Kingsound Emperor. It was just released for pre-order at Moon Audio. The amp is also from Kingsound. M10. That is the price for the amp NEW. Both of these items haven't been released yet.
