How loud are y'all's COPs getting when played through iPhone 5 and who all uses a portable amp with them (which on?)

I don't have an iPhone 5 but I do have an iPad 4, which probably uses the same DAC/amp as the iPhone 5. I put the audio around 60% to hear my movies comfortably, and music as well. If I put it up to 100% it would be just over the limit for TOO LOUD. Whereas with my Lyr (with headphones that can handle it), I use about 30% power comfortably, 50% at the loudest I can enjoy, and anything above would be too loud. I'd say you'd have more than enough head room with the iPhone 5. I mean, the COPs are 16 ohms. Super low.

That's what I figured the problem is, is that I have my iPhone 5 at 100% volume and its not too loud. It is actually probably at perfect "jamming" volume but I could stand to go louder. Should I try and return them back to the amazon dealer or just get a port. amp?

Also my cheap HP laptop doesn't play them any louder than my iPhone 5

Also my stock iPhone headphones do play louder a good bit than my COPs.

I wouldn't use an amp with the COP's they have a major popping problem when to much power was being pushed through them. iPhone 5 gets them enough power so no amp needed

You could grab a Fiio E6 which will just give them more volume, if that's what you desire. But you could get an E11 and boost the SQ a bit as well as giving them more volume. The E6 is more for just volume, from what I've read. I have an E5 that I used with my HD280s and it definitely made them louder but I doubt it changed the SQ much. I liked to think it did, though!

I understand the e11 will give them a little bass boost as well, i am a basshead when it comes to certain songs which is why i love these headphones so far.

I only do a +2dB bass boost with my E17. But the E11 might be able to help the dynamics a bit, I really don't know. The difference between amped and unamped is pretty subtle with these cans in my experience.

I finally ordered these COP's, so I can investigate myself.  I will post back results on how loud I perceive they can get.  Whether folks agree with my findings or not, I want to help others that do like their music loud.

I can confirm that the COP do not pop or crapple when you give them a little more juice. They sound very smooth and dynamic out of my m-stage smily_headphones1.gif

I think that is the result of NOT receiving a defective COP like I did.

Kudos to you guys. beerchug.gif

just got myself a cop, and my curiosity has been treated with a very interesting audio time, slot 2 is my preference generally, but when the beat gets going, pump it up to slot 3, includes game time :p

Anyone know of a website for COP accessories besides the beyerdynamic website? Looking for velour earpads for them.

Also anyone know a site to get custom print on the interchangeable plates? Thanks
