Probably more because of the 770 & 990 in particular. I think a lot of people (including myself) like the powerful and well extended bass and sparkly highs of these headphones but the obvious trade-off is the recessed mids. I'm definitely interested in getting a closed Beyer that is a bit less recessed in the mids compared to my 770s. I've been looking into the 660 and it does look promising. Hopefully this Custom One Pro is a bit of an improvement in that regard but from that initial review its questionable. I'm looking forward to hearing more as more people get their hands on these.

I don't think anything can be as recessed as the Pro900's. I'm kind of spoiled with my DT1350 and the tesla drivers it contains. I just love the clear, engaging sound with in your face mids. The only headphone that can compare are the Ultrasone H-FI 780, which also has great bass, forward mids, and sparkly treble. Unfortunately, I had to RMA mine as it broke.

To me even DT1350 has thin mids :)

The Custom One Pro is quite a nice phone form Beyer...

It was quite late last night so couldn't write much after finished arranging the pic above. Played with the Custom One alongside with some Beyer new toys (DT770 Pro 32, DTX501p) back in the HK HiFi show and after.

Everybody is curious about the Bass switch, you have 4 stops to choose, and for maximum bass pleasure, turn to the max. You can gradually reduce the bass until the fourth stop which make the cans turn into a rule response phone for pro monitoring. The cans do not require an amp to sound great but it is anticipated to perform even greater with one.

It sounds nice, but in comparison with the DT770 Pro 32, it has a thicker sound and tighter sound stage. However some may consider this to come well with hip hop music; still, by saying thicker the sound is still notably elegant and clean, just like the house Beyer sound. I will do a more in depth review when the demo arrives.

Being able to switch to difference bass responses does have some edge with it, you can skip changing headphones when needed. Of course you still need to and check with speakers when necessary, but for casual work or at difficult on site situation; this is a big plus. Yep noise isolation is great.

Being able to change look is an innovative idea, but not much for my concern. However being able to easily replace damaged parts is a big plus - tho it is built like a panzer and I doubt that would ever happen.

I just ordered a pair. It should be here Friday.

I'll be comparing it to the Ultrasone Pro900.

Well it's not the first time we disagree. We just have different tastes. I know a lot of people who feel the same way.

Earlier another guy said the E10 is bright, so there's a whole lot of different opinions and tastes out there. And that's a good thing too.
