Yeah. I admit I was a bit spoiled by being able to blast my M80, HM3 and HD280Pro with the E11, (even my MEE M9P earbuds)
But I still think 16ohm/100mW was a bad choice for the COP.

B;eh, I didn't like the HD280 at ALL >.>
I didn't play any EDM through them but man... those where not worth the price tage when I listened to em Best Buy
Non the less... I hear the COP is teh first in a new line of Custom cans... maybe it was a test run xD BUT it could be Byer trying to get into the iGeneration Market. Most people today think bass go for beats, Byer might want in on those ampless iPhone and Android users, hence the cans BAD matching with amps...
I've run them unamped from my Clip+ and they sounded fine. But it's unfortunate that they literally can't even handle being amped. Even my little KSC75s can take what my Lyr is dishing out. The COPs can't even handle my E17. They're fine at lower volumes like everyone has said, but if you get in the mood to rock out and you turn it up a notch or two, it will clip. On a brighter note, I'm getting my DT880s today!

Given the low impedance, it's more likely the amp is clipping from hitting its current limit. A headphone can't really "clip"...

I really doubt my Lyr is clipping. If I turn my volume up with the E17 at ~40, 0dB gain, I can get the COPs to clip in the right ear consistently. It really isn't that loud.
Why are you guys amping these?
Especially with the Lyr!
You knew when you bought these what they were made for and now you're complaining about it clipping with amping. ![]()
I don't know, usually because amping makes most headphones sound better? I knew when I bought them that they had 16ohm impedance and they have a short cable and are made to be "portable" -- I did not know they were made for low volumes. No one ever told me that. It was never advertised anywhere.
I tried them with my Lyr because who wouldn't? Unfortunately the high sensitivity/low impedance of the Beyers didn't mix well with the high output impedance of the Lyr and it hisses when I connect them together. The E17 is fine with that, though.

I just got my COP a few days ago and running it with my E7, with no problems. I could get it pretty loud, with no clipping. I did hear a bit of clipping once, but that was when I had the amp on high volume with a bass heavy track. You guys must be really blasting them. Anyway, been pleased with them so far
I'll re-evaluate the clipping when I get them back. They haven't replied to me since they received them. They didn't even confirm they got them, actually.
Edit: Play this in 720p, turn it up a bit and tell me if you hear clipping. This is the song I first noticed it on.
playing it on 45 of 60 volume with my E7, which is pretty loud IMO. I had the bass switches on the third setting.... No clipping! Oh and the E7 is connected through my iPhone
oh and also had the E7 "bass booster" on the second setting
I don't hear any clipping on my 320 kbps version with the COP. All I hear is crappy dubstep... and I actually liked Kill The Noise's self-titled
I must have had a legitimately defective unit then. I could get it to clip easily. I'm sorry you don't like that song, though... it was one of the first things I played with the COPs and I nearly shat my pants when the sub bass hits when she says "like Saturn's rings". The bass is so win.
Check out "Rockers" from that album if you're feeling up to it. Those are my 2 favorite songs from that EP.
