Oh man!!!!! 650's in my hands already!!!!!! - Page 8

To the OP, besides the added warmness helping certain type of music. Is there any other quality that HD650 has over the 600? Or is a change in signature pretty much it?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Hmmm, maybe I should pick up the 600's, but I just got the 800's so I'll mull over them for a few months!

Well, as I mentioned, I seem to also notice a slight difference in how far you seem to be from the stage when listening with each one. It seems to me the 650 places you a bit closer to the stage. Not by much, though.

Good eye! That belongs to my parents. Those final pictures aren't at my place but at theirs. Took the Dynahi to their place after finishing the enclosure, so that all my relatives could finally listen to it :P I believe it is a collectible that my brother gave them as a gift.

Listening to Pavarotti on both. Boy, this one is hard, because his voice sounds absolutely gorgeous on both presentations.

One thing I've noticed, the triangle seems to sound slightly more present with the HD600 than with the HD650. In any case, either of these headphones is just shinning like supernovas with classical.

I'd like to mention, positioning-wise I've noticed that if the cups bend my earlobes any bit down or forward, the sound looses sparkle in the treble.  So I'm not following Dr. Meier's positioning recommendation too much (http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/tipstricks.htm)  I rather place the headphones kind of dead on center, so that my earlobes are barely touched by the top and rear walls of the cups, but are not bent any bit by them. This I've found to be the best position for me. Well, on my head, and with my hearing, that is. YMMV.
