Ok, so I find myself here on these forums seeking advice for a new set of headphones. I have about $170 in newegg giftcards and I want to put them to a very nice headset. However I am really picky about sound quality. Basically I want something with very good bass but also with good middle and high as well. I am really big into electric music on my PC and I enjoy both the highs and lows. But I also do gaming, and from my past experience with Turtle Beach I really enjoyed the ability of hearing very small sounds, such as hearing someone walking up behind me. Details like that help make the imerssion much deeper and more enjoyable for me. Now like i said, I do have $170 in gift cards but I am willing to invest some money as well to a total cost of $250. Or am I SOL for finding something of good quality on newegg? Thank you, and I look forward to your suggestions.

In my experience Newegg is not the greatest place to buy quality cans--especially on a day to day basis.  There prices range (and roam from day to day) from great to very high.  Their selection is spotty at best.  When I check in the last week, it was almost non-existent.

Bottom line for buying cans from Newegg:

1. Know exactly what you want in advance.

2. Be patient.

3. Wait for what you want to go on sale.  Newegg has some great sales, starting each day with their Shell Shockers.

I know that you have credit there but their hp selection seems to lacking in recent years. It used to be that you could get a nice pair of Sein's there, but the stock has gotten really selective. Maybe you could trade with someone who wants something from newegg for the phones that you want.

Good luck!!

So pretty much I am FUBAR with these gift cards. Great, and I was really hoping for something high end and of good quality. It's a real shame since newegg is my hub for all things electronic since I build computers. Now I just need to figure out how to turn these cards into cash so I can go elsewhere to get some cans. Any suggestions on my next step to take?

Watch and wait with your gift cards.  Not long ago Newegg had a great price (just under $70) for a couple batches of the excellent Sony MDR-ZX-700 they got in.  It's just an irregular thing with Newegg.

Still, I checked those headphones and there is not much of a review on them. Hmmm, perhaps it is best to trade in my cards. Does anyone here want to trade for $170 in Newegg gift cards? Oh wait that is solcitation and is against forum rules. Darn it, so are there any sites people trade stuff like this?

You must not have checked too hard, as they are the top rated Sony full sized can at this forum.  See:

But perhaps that wasn't the real reason for the post.
