Favorite Portable Source with FLAC Support

So I mod'd my Sony XB700's today... they sound more awesome then before, next I got ahold of a FLAC Rip of a NetSky Album of which I'm comparing to a .mp3 version of the same album.

So song for song, and using my Desktop as a source [which btw it's a REALLY SUCKY source]

I'm pretty sure there's a richness a timbre to the FLAC in the High's that the .mp3 does not have. There's a piano intro and it's wonderful on the FLAC, and the .mp3 is alright

So that being said

What's your guys favorite Portable Source with FLAC support? Gimmie then details to please ;3

I use a Sansa Clip Zip, and a Rockboxed 160GB iPod...both do well...especially the iPod with an LOD and an amp.

I use an iPod touch 4G with flacplayer app, and a Cowon C2 as a back up on long trips. Both good.

What's your budget?

IMHO, "best" SQ with cumbersome interface - iBasso DX100. Close alternative is the Sony NW-Z series with PowerAmp.

My backup to the DX100 is my iPhone 4S+Go-DAP 4.0 & FLACPlayer.

Something under $300. Although I have heard great things about Cowon players. I looked at the iBasso DX100 and saw the $700 price tage on it... so I might wait a while on that one >.>

Also @Fleasbaby That sounds like a good idea, how easy is it to load the Rockbox firmware onto the iPod Classic?

Also how is the sq on the Cowon C2 and is there a new'r model?

Been listening to iPhone 4s + 320kbps for a few months until I rockboxed my ipod 5g + FLAC's and was instantly blown away. I am gonna upgrade the 30GB to a 120 GB HDD tonight for my ipod 5g.

Samsung Galaxy S + Voodoo sound + NeutronMP + 64GB microsdxc, great clean sound even in high volumes.

Not too bad actually :)...check out the instructions here:

http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/UMSboot

And then, instead of using the build they provide, have a look here:

There are some very nice builds, far superior to the generic, being posted.

Sounds awesome! I have a feeling though I need to just replace the Firm Ware on my Zune HD... I would have done it by now but the P.C my Zune connects to is 2 rooms away so xD it's not my favorite place to do reaseach at lol
