I just got my cks77 from accessoryjack. My god that was fast shipping. I ordered on the 28th and paid the extra for EMS.

Previous to the CKS77, I owned the turbine pro golds and the brainwavz m2. Both were great.

For the longest time, I was set on purchasing the highly raved Atrio MG7 (I crave bass) but after listening to my buddy's MG7, I was extremely disappointed. Yes I tried all the tips including shures olives. The Atrio bass/sub-bass are fantastic but the mids and highs sound so cheap. Also there is absolutely no full-ness or dept. Everything sounds so shallow like the soundstage is non-existent.

The best way I can describe the Atrio is - $20 dollar IEM with $200 bass. Directly compared to my MTPG, I would say the MTPG is better in all departments except for the sub-bass.

My problem with the MTPG was that when eq'ed and cranked up, the bass sounded muddy and forced. TotallyDubbed recommended the cks77 to me saying it was a definite upgrade to the MTPG and for a third of the cost, I bought right away.

At first, I pm'ed Dsnuts about the $52 ones from ebay from artistic.life because the price was so tempting but decided to pay the extra for the assurance of a perfect pair and a peace of mind through accessoryjack.

First impressions:

Extremely comfortable. The most comfortable IEM i've ever put in my ears. I see no problems running/jogging/working out with these.

Using the default tips - The soundstage is HUGE. My god, I feel like i'm in a club. After a few minutes of being more than satisfied, I eq'ed and cranked it up. No distortion, no muddiness, and everything sounds fantastic. The amount of bass is awesome. I'm no expert in mids and highs but they sound great too.

The sound signature on these is more of an open area/arena sound - completely the opposite of the Atrio MG7 and the MTPG fall somewhere in between both MG7 and the CKS77.

Cranked up and eq'ed I can feel the air moving. There is a bit of vibration and if you gently put a finger on the AT logo, you can feel the vibration in your finger. I will burn-in and also try multiple tips including my favorite Monster hybrid foams and report back.

Lol. Your take on the MG7s are exactly what I got from them too. I have no idea how people like those to be completely honest. It is great that they have great sub bass but considering most music to sound right requires highs and mids too it is like those are missing 2/3rds of the sound. Lol!  Hows about some stage and depth to the sounds for once..I was so disappointed in those and to make matters worse my particular pair has an issue with driver flex on the right side. Lovely.

I think for $100 people should get more than what those are. And guys that say those are fantastic for this and that. I just scratch my head. I have no idea. Anyway that is that and this is the CKS77. Glad you finally got them. I took my pair with me to the Grand Canyon and used them for a day on the trip. Oh man My music sound so full and lush. Gotta love the full sound..

Hey everyone, been lurking this post for a while now, and I'm pretty sure I"m gonna pick up a set of CKS77s.

What do you guys think about this seller? $28 seems WAY too good to be true, but they've got >99.5% positive feedback, and all their responses on the negative seem to be very easy-going and willing to replace faulty units.

It's hard to know if they're fake I guess, but I wanted to get a second opinion before I shell out for them.

Thanks!

Those seem to be the factory seconds that are going around ebay from some sellers..I will tell you these are completely worth getting a boxed version and will eliminate any type of defective bad sounding ones which happened to me and several others. The factory rejects means you are taking a chance but at a very cheap price.

I think if that seller is willing to work with you on returns if necessary it might be worth the risk but is the risk worth getting possible defective ones for you. That will be up to you.

Thanks for your quick reply!

I've sent the seller a few questions, and depending on how he answers I'll decide whether or not it's worth taking the risk.

If I was looking to buy boxed, would you recommend AJ? How's the postage time with normal versus express,  in your opinion is it worth the extra (for me) roughly $15?

Also, if I was going to buy the seconds, what kind of defects would I be looking out for?

I would love to hear a slightly more in depth comparison between the MTPG and the CKS77, how are their sound curves and such?

AJ is fine. I think all the guys that got these from them got original pairs with no flaws.

As for bad rejected pairs a few that I have seen so far. Bad muffled sound for me with recessed highs. Imbalanced sound..The original pair actually has a good balance between highs mids and bass. If you get a pair that sounds like the highs are barely there or vocals come muffled like a veil to the sound, that would be the bad pair.

You know what is strange to me. After looking at my rejected LTD RED pair. I can't see any type of flaws or hear any on them at all. I know there are rejects of these but how come there are enough for vendors to sell is my question. It seems these guys just don't run out of these rejected pairs. You would figure at the factory where they make these earphones if a certain amount gets rejected some supervisor would put a stop on whatever is causing the rejects.

This may sound strange but I think my LTD pair could be an actual pre boxed pair. I see absolute zero nicks or scratches or anything wrong with them. In fact my original boxed black pair now has way more flaws than these perfect LTD RED ones.. I was thinking I would get a flawed one somewhere in the build but my particular pair was shipped with little plastic bags on each of the earphones the left and the right. This 2nd pair I got if I was to put into a retail box. There is no way anyone would know they have been rejected. Which brings me to my theory..

There might be some hanky panky going on at the AT factory that AT does not know about is my thought. How or why these got rejected is beyond me. I used to be a supervisor at a chemical coating lab where we used to melt chemical coatings on super high end glass and I have seen my share of stuff that gets rejected and these rejected LTD RED CKS77 there is just no way I would have rejected them for any reason. Again it is simply flawless. Pay some factory QC person to purposefully reject here and there and what you know. You get an entire box of rejects that get sold on ebay. Lol!

The price of the ATH-CKS77BK has come down on Amazon.com.  For those who might think about buying them from China and paying for EMS shipping to the US, you have them available in your own backyard for a lower price, when you include shipping charges.basshead.gif  You can see them here:

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-Solid-In-Ear-Headphone-ATH-CKS77BK/dp/B005I4L6NI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338614770&sr=1-1

Even with the normal shipping option (slower, but cheaper), the price would not be much lower than the price on Amazon.com.

Good looking out Alberto. That is a solid price for a boxed pair..I bought mine from buy.com for $107 or so shipped so that is even a better price.

I was listening to my RED LTD pair on my way home from work today. These sound freaking marvelous. I know many of you guys would think because of the new JVCs that came out that my fandom for these earphones might have swayed a little. Nope. There is no other earphones that sound quite like these..The sound is so boss with so many of tunes. It put me right back to the first time I heard these. I am just as amazed by these today as I was when I first heard them. Nothing has a big of a sound or so deep and expansive for me.

After spending some time with other earphones and then coming back to these. Others just don't have THIS sound. Sure there are more proper sounding earphones but you know for me these are still tops for just getting lost in my tunes.

Get a boxed pair from a reputable seller, so that you will know their sound.  Then, you can get another pair at a bargain price and if it comes out to be as good as your boxed pair, then you can sell it for a better price than what you paid for them.

For the western hemisphere, expedited delivery time is usually between 3 and 4 days.  Normal delivery time is usually between 10 and 14 days.  Both are tracked deliveries from AJ.  Delivery times might be faster for Australia if the postal services in Australia are not slow to deliver.

I placed my order with AJ on the 28th and paid for the faster EMS method. Received them today on the 1st, so about 3-4 days with EMS is outstanding i think. My advice would be to just go with AJ as these headphones are an insane value even at $100.

I'll get back to you in a few days. Only had the cks77 for a day as opposed to my MTPG that were used daily for a year. But initially I am very impressed with the cks77 and everything sounds like an upgrade. I cannot believe how open and wide the stoundstage is, its really awesome.

I put on my monster hybrid foam tips and the bass has gotten even more responsive. I am very pleased.

It is known fact that chinese get genuine items from factory and sell as fake.

Okay well I ended up ordering the Ebay ones, the seller said if I have any problems at all I can return them for a full refund (minus the postage cost)

If they're faulty, I'll definitely go and buy a boxed set.

Thanks for all your help everyone!
