Next step up from Yamaha HTR-6130 ?

Alrighty folks first of all let me say "I don't know if this post in the proper category" .

Ok, now that that's outta the way,

I have this Yamaha HTR-6130 speaker system set up that I want to get rid of, because, it sucks. (Plain and simple).

It came together as a package for a TV I bought during a boxing day sale , it was practically free, so I snagged it.

Anyways, this was a while ago (maybe five years ago ?) and at that time I was still new to the whole "audiophile experience".

When I hooked it all up and got it working, I thought it was "pretty good" (decent). But as time passed, my hearing and appreciation of all things audiophile greatened and improved.

Now, it sounds like trash compared to my portable equipment .

I can't play any games or watch any movies because I just can't stand it anymore. Everything sounds muffled with over-bloated bass (even when I turn off the subwoofer). I can't hear / differentiate a single thing, it all sounds convoluted and far far FAR from being crystal clear. Just rumbling , mid madness.

So that's why I wanted to upgrade. (My budget is a maximum of $2,000)

I'm looking for a 5.1 system, capable of hooking up a PS3, a Bluray player and a TV using HDMI.

Any suggestions ? I have no idea were to start ( I'm only versed in the portable audio spectrum of the audiophile universe - headphones )

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
