Best Standalone Headphones That Can Be Used Without An Amp

I would appreciate some advice on the best headphones that can be used without an external amp. The headphones will plug directly to sources like an iPhone. So far I read the Audio Technica ATH-M50 can be used without an amp. Are there any other higher-quality headphones with excellent sound quality that can be used without an amp?

 

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you looking for portable use?  I am assuming if you're plugging into an iphone you are.  You can check this guide for many options!

Thanks for the prompt reply. It does not necessarily need to be portable but the earpiece definitely needs to sit on the ear preferably around it. I dislike earpieces that stick into the ear canal.

 

I have just briefly gone through the link that you've posted. Great guide. Will need to spend some time going through it. Thanks!~

Shure SRH440, Creative aurvana live/denon AD-H1001, Shure SRH 840. Thats all I know of :).
