Denon D7100?! - Page 13

tissot that is true, so then whats wrong about discussing it?

taowolf51 you make a good point, its not so simple but an accurate enough summary, and its very true, the d7k will age much better then the D7100,

Ideally the TH900 is the best of both worlds, takes after the d7k with slight styling differences, more striking colours that stand out and announce themselves without having a "will be dated" badge on it such as rapper cans.

The IEM looks really cool but the headphones go all the way Beats-ward!

I really hope we hear something about those IEM's soon, preferably when will they be released. I was in the process to order some custom IEM's, but now with my favorite IEM manufacturer finally bringing new line of high ends, i got a put those customs on hold for a bit.

Man o' man, I love how you guys are comparing headphones to super-rich cars.

lol so then the big question is what would be the Bugatti Veyron (engineering masterpiece of precision, power and class with a splash of luxury)? Th900, stax sr-009, LA7000, LCD3, FAD Murumasa VIII, and how many others i havent heard or dont wanna think of...

I think a HD800 would be a soulful match, brilliant engineering and both are futuristic!

The point is: if you have this much customer push-back about your new design, you'd better go back to the drawing board--unless you want to relive* the success that was the Edsel.

* For those among us ancient enough to remember it.

Why is the design talked here then? It's the only thing we know about D7100 and only thing to discuss.

I have no problems with people merely commenting on the design, but I do have issues with those who goes "OMG the new design is awful I'm going to go buy D7000 now!", and admit it you've seen some of these people around.

Some people think they would prefer the D7000's, and want to pick it up before it gets replaced. Isn't too ridiculous to me.

Without listening to the sound of the D7100?  Seems pretty ridiculous to me, because that's exactly the attitude that people use to laugh at Beats buyers amongst the audiophile group.

SO would the TakeT headphone be the Veyron engine in a Subaru outback?

Most people buy headphones without listening to them, that isn't exactly new. My guess is that they're worried that if the D7000's get replaced, it'll be harder for them to pick one up.

Another reason is that some people genuinely do care about design, it isn't really all that uncommon.

Also, Beats are not good design.

They're so damned ugly I really wouldn't want to own them. There's not a thing wrong with appreciating the appearance of a set of headphones, and god knows there are enough great ones out there that manage to sound awesome without looking like ass.

I'd like to mention that I doubt these will sound as good as the models they're... replacing?

Anyway, a major reason why the current phones sound as good as they do is down to how the driver's backwave is dampened by the material in the ear pads, BUT this set up is also what makes them so large and "leaky".  These new phones are considerably smaller and seems to have been designed with portable use in mind, both of which makes it pretty clear that these don't have this system and thus will sound like every other closed can.  The older phones bodies being made of wood also makes them much more resonant resistant than plastic.

In terms of ascetics, these new cans are a mess of shapes, it's like someone vomited geons into reality.  The Foster made units form these nice concentric circles and semicicles with the cup, then the wishbone, then the cantilever.  The headband also follows this same even curve to round out the package.

Someone mentioned a photographer going for the AKG's, photographers love things with lots of parts.  Sounds like a bit of a dull photographer to not try anything with the Denons, though.  Do they also take flat shots of flowers?

just saying before it gets out of hand, keep it clean.

There are valid points all round
