Congratulations on your purchase. I dont know why people keep going on about bass being a problem with the CD3000, I've always felt the CD3000 to be one of the bassiest headphones I've ever heard, save for the DT770, and although it does not go quite as deep as some others, not only is it not a problem for any music that I listen to (trance and the like) but I have heard few headphones that can replicate really deep bass in a convincing fashion anyway and I dont think the CD3000 is any worse than many other cans in this respect - it will still manage 20 Hz, and any lower can not be done convincingly by any headphone IMO.

Oh, and AFAIK, Voodoochile is not accepting any more PPA work. Of course, if your happy with your amp then you can always just use that, or even consider a Perreaux SXH-1 too

And AFAIC, the DT880 isnt even in the same league as the CD3000.

No disrespect here, but I never said that I think there would be a bass problem with the Sonys. In fact, I said exactly the same as you did ("...although it does not go quite as deep as some others..."), but also stated that love their sound as a whole. They are indeed not "bass-shy" at all, and offer lots of it, but more in the mid to upper bass area (maybe up from 30Hz).

Well, no headphone is perfect, and while I think that the overall bass of the CD3000 is nothing but great, I still would like them to go just a little bit deeper. That would be the "dot on the i", as we say in Germany

. The DT880 lacks in total amount of bass instead.

That said, I listen to them (my CD3K of course) right now and can say that it's easlily the best headphone that I've heard so far!

Cheers

Chisum

P.S.: I know that you don't like the DT880s, but to generally say it's not in the same league as CD3000 is simply NOT TRUE. It depends on your music preferences.
