Opinions wanted: Which has better SQ, the 7G iPod classic or the 4G iPod Touch? - Page 2

I owned a 6g nano and it sounded great for the week I had it.  Really had no complaints about SQ, I just have complaints about itunes and how bad it is.  I would get an iphone and use it as a music player only because you have more control over the device.

I've always been an anti Apple guy because I don't like proprietary hardware or software, but recently, after a newegg promo email, I couldn't help but be curious about the new 4th g touch so I bought one last week(and another yesterday along with a Fiio E7 and a pair of Westone UM2 RC).

I figured if I paired it with a good DAC I could get good sound out of it plus have all the cool features the ipod touch has to offer. Well I did order a Fiio E7, but to my surprise the Touch sounds great on it's own using ALAC. I actually like it better than my RockBoxed Sansa clip.

It can definitely hold it's own. I guess that's why I bought another one.bigsmile_face.gif

I agree actually, I just got a sansa clip from radio shack and in 10 minutes it sounded worst, was noisier and crashed on me.  It feels like a toy compared to the nano 6g.

Unfortunately I only have 2 options for clip mounted mp3 devices so I jut engineered an actual solution to my apple problems.

I switched to this last night: iPod classic 7G>FiiO E7>Aurvana Live headphones. The FiiO is a rebranded model on sale @Amazon - Pyle, and as all know the Aurvana Live are a rebranded (Creative) Denon D1001. Very sweet sounding rig.

I finally bought the iPod Touch (64GB, white), now I have to wait until it arrives so I can compare it to the iPod 5G. I'll let you know how it goes wink.gif

Did you rockbox the ipod 5g/30GB? I love the SQ from the combo of rockboxed ipod 5g and IE80 playing the lossless FLAC's. To my ears it's much better than the SQ from my iphone 4s playing the 320kbps. I like neutral sound without EQ'ed.

6 yrs is not that old. Mine is 8 yrs already and I just ordered a 120GB HDD to upgrade the hard drive.

Please don't forget to try out one of the EQ apps on the touch. They'll really make quite a difference IMO.

Really? I bought a Cowon J3 and don't like the sound. The Rockboxed iPod 5g/5.5g is clearly better for me in terms sound stage, 3D imaging and details using my EX1000.

Sorry guys for the previous useless comment boxes. was using touch for that for the fist time to go onto headfi lol and didnt know how to use it. Anyways, I had been using touch for couple of years now and i have used it with apps like denon audio and bbe(two diff versions including jvc version). I feel it just sounds more fun theres more body and dynamics without the apps. i prefer to listen on the pre-installed orange music app with eq off.
