Wow , what a difference here. These two cables are more different from each other than the mogami was from the little stock wire.....

The grado goes even further in the direction of bringing solidity to the sometimes too airy koss75. I've tried this before and felt it was a little too dark but Dee dee wants grado on the koss. Will have to try some other tunes to make sure he's right. The mogami is more colored in it's affects, one reason now i'm thinking it's not the best choice for a magnum driver as I find the mags already have plenty of color. The grado has substantially more body and solidity to the tone. Makes things a little less nuanced but with the koss, I think this may be a good recable choice..............does anyone know if these cables are available for resale from grado? or what aftermarket wire has a similar sound?

Interesting! They aren't available anywhere I know of, but I don't believe you would have a hard time finding some on the trade forum. Lots of people replace that cable on their grados.

...... I know there has been some talk about some qualities that make grado cables unique but there is something a little odd about the grado cable sound as well. It makes things a little more one dimensional somehow. And this seemed to carry over when ever I mounted a grado cable. That along with a little darkness and solidity. the mogami has more presence for sure and just a different vibe. Frankly i'm not sure either is faultless with the koss. I want to try some basic radio shack cables and see what it sounds like.

Arghh, I wish I had the balls to recable my KOSS KSC75.

 

I'm on my second pair and the left side has started to pop in and out.  Will pay for a recable at a decent price!

just send them into koss, they will send you a new pair bud.

I've already used the KOSS lifetime guarantee to get the second pair that I'm on, but I don't like the flimsy cable!  It's just too fragile.

 

Is there anyone on the head-fi forums that offers recables at a decent price?  I've seen recables for $100 and I'm not looking to spend that much.

yeah, you definitely shouldn't spend that much.

I'd recommend just picking up a soldering iron of your own and learning how to make a cable :)
