IPod EQ (What setting do you use?)

I use an Ipod Classic 7th Gen, and I used to have Beats Pro, and they sound great with Jazz EQ since it evens out the Bass just abit.. Now I moved on from that and I own a cMoyBB v2.03 R 2x9 customized so it sounds in pair with my AKG K701 which still needs to be burned in.   Jazz dosn't sound good with the AKG , because if I put Bass Boost on and turn the volume up on the cMoyBB the voice/bass gets distorted, and I like playing loud music.. So I keep  EQ turned off.. any advice? I listen to alot of Beatles,Led Zeppelin, J-Pop Rock

 

For all those Ipod users what EQ works best for around?

None,

Apples ipod EQ settings are a disgrace to themselves and everyone of their users. Not one I have tried sounds anything like it claims. The reason half the world doesn't know how to use a proper 5 - 10 band EQ is thanks to apple and their supposedly excellent "preset" equalizer system implemented into their "simplicity" ipods. Sure they're easy, and what's easy is cheesy! 

I grew up using a proper 5 band equalizer from my first stereo so I have a fair idea on what settings give me the sound I require, after trying apples bogan presets I was ashamed they could even call it an EQ.

Thank god for Rockbox!

For iPod? Almost everyone would agree the best EQ is no EQ. iPod's built-in EQ is nearly guaranteed to introduce distortion. Your cMoy probably lets you hear that distortion even more clearly, when you turn it up.

 

Also: cMoy's Bass Boost + iPod's Jazz EQ? That's like EQ-ing an EQ--another bad idea. Stick to EQ-ing at one stage in your chain of components.

Does using an LOD on the iPod / iPhone instead of the on-board 3.5mm jack affect the battery usage much? I know the sound out of the LOD is said to be superior but does it drain the battery faster?

Probably saves battery since the unit is no longer running its own amp.
