Cowon J3 Discontinued - Page 2

thanks a lot.  i'll read into it more myself.  Just sold the ipod 5.5, so I am kinda in need of a new player.  Might opt for J3 or another galaxy s phone + voodoo...  wish the z2 were cheaper.  

really glad I didn't fall for the sony z-series....no expandable memory....!  

you think people should still get this player or just wait until cowon releases a new player as good as the j3?

I would get the J3.  I did end up getting one...loved it.  favorite player ever aside from slightly small screen with controls that were hard to use while driving.  I sold it and ordered a D3.  Once I try that I'll think about getting a J3 again.

Z2 is a little too expensive in my opinion right now.  It's supposed to be almost as good sound quality :o  I doubt most can tell a difference

Yeah Sony Z 1060 is a lot more for the 32Gb then the J3 16GB plus 16GB card.

I might be ordering my J3 this week coming from a Sony X Series.

If you haven't experienced cowon/bbe yet, you're in for a treat I think :D

hmmm i'll probably wait for a while since i have too (saving up money), but i most likely still be getting the j3 now

Yeah I hope BBE dont sound bad for electronic music as I not a fan of flat sound if I dont like the EQ.

Used to the warm sound of Sony X now.

i'm all about electronic music--specifically uplifting trance :D  J3 sounds marvellously warm and alive with the EQ.  are you gonna buy J3 new? 

I'll link you to the thread and the settings which I liked the most.  Everything else seemed to sound very veiled after hearing this.  it's apparently the most recommended/highly rated settings according to the korean website....

here are also settings which 2 people came up with independently that are almost exactly alike.  I tried it and liked it too :)

My volume range is 22-26 mostly on my ATH-M50's and 19-22 on my Brainwavz M2's.  20-22 on is still perfect and quite audible on the M50's, as for any pair really, only starting below 20 does the sound get worsened.  I just prefer it a bit louder since I listen to a lot of Rock and like hearing all the "background" subtleties more distinctly (Especially for bands like Queen and Muse).  Just in general Rock is meant to be listened to louder so I guess I feel that too. wow, that's pretty expensive... for $250...$30 more and you can get a new white 16gb Z2 on Ebay (Jet audio store)

I plan on just continuing to buy used J3's one after the other if they break.  That is, if i don't like the D3.  I think I will since it has a new firmware with android gingerbread on it.

Well its $199 on Amazon and im in the UK so after postage and customs it would become over $250.

Over here $250 is cheapest as its a discounted price already. :( Sucks.

bah... the same EQ settings sound different on my new D3 which arrived today.  Also, out of the box at least it's not sounding nearly as clean as the J3 did in my car. 

Wifi was on....but could that be why it was so much more fuzzy sounding through my car stereo?  D:
