i have actually heard that it has poor sound quality compard to its lesser known models like xperia go etc.....

It sounds much better than my previous Galaxy S2 but only thing is its too bright for my taste. Highs are more pronounced. Other than this I don't see any major negatives.

Xperia Uses Qualcomm WCD9310 DAC

 

MSM8960 CPU with something called PM8291 thing and with WCD9310 DAC.

qualcomms is good yes..but Wolfson is  TAD bit Better.

I'm listening to my xperia s with se215ltd as I'm typing this. I think the sound quality is fine, but volume is really low for some of the iems.

amplify it, player pro, power amp, they have this feature.

After JB upgrade my Xperia S sounds wonderful comparable to my old walkman...I'm not using my sansa clip+ nowadays

 

Great sound quality
