i don't get stuff on vinyl for quality reasons. i get it for basically all the reasons that it was initially abandoned in favor of cd: large size for visual appeal (both jackets and discs), tactile nature, and more finicky playback. even though i can't hear any difference aside from the occasional click/pop, i enjoy knowing the fact that every time i play a record the sound that comes out is very slightly different compared to every other time. plus there's a lot of stuff only available on vinyl (including new releases), and vinyl ripped to digital never sounds as good to me. for example, i wish i had a copy of the white stripes icky thump mono record, but i don't have a spare $500 lying around.
