I pretty much agree with the point of this article. I don't always agree with the chosen sound of a recording. The mix may have sounded great in the studio, but I am not in the studio. I listen in my own space. There is nothing wrong with giving the mix a little tweeking if it helps you enjoy the music. I do prefer to be able to remove the controls from the signal path if I don't use them, however.

I really agree with this guy.

The absolute best thing would be to have knobs that are also toggle pushbuttons, so you could turn the knob "off" if you don't want to have that control in the path of the signal.
