Trying to decide between Denon AH-D2000 & Beyer DT 770 PRO 250ohm

Hello. I know that this topic has been asked, and discussed before, but I am looking for an opinion on the two for listening through an iphone and Fiio E-7 portable amp, and also my desk top. I'm not doing anything fancy with them, like mixing, or any kind of studio work. I just love my music, and I like it to sound REALLY good. I listen to classic rock, rock, pop, some jazz, and some instrumental. I listen to it loud. I also like a nice profound bass, but not out of control bass...I guess it's not as easy to explain as I thought it would be. I've had BOSE QC2's, and QC3's. I was not really impressed with the music quality from them.

I'm trying to decide between the Denon AH-D2000's, and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 250's. I've heard great thing about both, and I just want the best one for what I am using them for. I like the single side wiring on the DT 770 Pro's, but it would never be a deal breaker not to have it. The money for either one is not an issue, but I don't want to waste money either.

You can probably tell by now that I'm fairly new to this, lol, but I would like to be educated.

Heya,


Both are excellent, I keep both for that reason. Sometimes, I want the Denon. Sometimes I want the Beyer. Both are comfortable. Both have good sound stages. Both have a little sparkle to the treble. Both have nice bass. They're just so similar actually. The Denon is a little more linear. The Beyer is a touch more of a "V" response, but not in a major way. I would probably say go Denon primarily, because it just does everything so right. But I'm still a big fan of the Beyer too, it's so comfortable and isolates pretty nicely.

 

Can't go wrong either way. Pick the one that looks nicest to you and go.

The Denon should still sound decently (with your iPhone) even if you miss place the E7.

Where as the more demanding DT770 Pro 250-Ohm really need the amplifier.

 

As you can not use the E7 DAC with the iPhone.

You might consider replacing the E7 with the E11 and a Fiio D3 or D5 DAC.

The E11 is a better amplifier then the E7 (but the E11 does not have a DAC)

You could use the Fiio D series DAC with your desktop.

Do you have a Fiio L series cable? it connects the Fiio to the iPhone's LOD port, it bypasses the iPhone's headphone amplifier.

I do have the FiiO L-3 cable. I was under the impression that I could use the FiiO E-7 amp with my iphone also. I can't? Thank you for your help!!

The E7 come with a DAC and a headphone amplifier.

Your iPhone has a built in DAC and headphone amplifier

You can use the E7s amp with the iPhone, just not the E7s DAC with the iPhone.

I just brought the whole thing up because the E11 is a better headphone amplifier then the E7.

what amp would you think be best for an android phone with the beyerdynamic dt770 pro 250 ohms. (amp under 75 dollars) Thanks!!!

I really enjoy the Fiio E11 with my Beyers. You can leave it flat, or bump the EQ (bass) up a notch to get some more earthquake goodness. Great tight sound, long life, looks nice.

I have the Fiio E11 and I like it, so I can say yea, get the E11.

I like to add in the cmoy option because I do not want to come across too biased for Fiio

and like to give the cmoy a fair chance.

Doesn't it get annoying carrying the amp with you and the headphone when your on the go??? Also when your listening to rock music do you leave it in between flat and bass. Thank You !

No more annoying than carrying my tamper, lighter, wallet, keys, phone, etc. It's tiny, slim and slides into a pocket. It comes with a rubber-band that lassos it to the player (or your phone, player, whatever you want). I tend to put my bass up, because I love the bass. Even in rock and other genres. Bass. Bass. Bass.
