Austin 2012 meet impressions - Page 6

Oh god, I completely forgot about this.

In my defense I was banned at the time

Unfortunate that you missed out. It was a lot of fun.

While the meet didn't change much for me (drastically anyway) it did give me the upgrade itch (well, made it worse).

I think I've finally decided on what I want though (Maxvla has been following me for awhile. He knows how much I'm struggling :D )

See it now? I think that's what I'm going to shoot for.*

I kept trying to be budget friendly while still getting performance...(and like the sig now states) Screw budgets. I want what I want and I'm going to get it.

Texas Monthly did a list of the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas, and all of the top 5 are around Austin. You need to head east to Lockhart (named BBQ Capital of Texas by the state legislature)
to eat at Smitty's, Kreuz Market, and Black's. Louie Mueller's in Taylor is a must as well.

Might have to rename this thread BBQ-Fi. smile.gif

Edit:
Somehow didn't take any notes about this combo, but I'll recall as best I can:
NuForce uDAC of some variety > Grado RS2:
So much better than any previous Grado. It actually sounds refined and smooth. Still a little of the V response there, but these are actually nice. Treble has hints of harshness, but for the most part it's smooth and easy to listen to. Classical on a Grado? Never thought I'd say I would like it, but it was pretty good. Reminded me of my HD600 with a balanced amp/source. Aggressive, but smooth and open.

Also someone left a CD on my table. I checked with the guys that were still there and it wasn't from them. If you are missing one pm me with the artist and album title to claim it and I'll mail it to you.

I missed this thread, so sorry for the late post.  That's funny because I posted a few years back that the RS2 were a slightly more exciting or energetic version of the HD600, and a duller more mid-centric version of the RS1.

I would agree with that, Larry. smily_headphones1.gif

Sorry for bumping a month's old thread, but I'm new to the forum, and I'm totally looking forward to the next one. Does it really have to be a year away!?

And I will agree with Kreuz Market having some amazing BBQ! I've been in Austin for ten years and haven't gotten a chance to have Franklin's. Either lines were too long or they run out of meat. biggrin.gif
