Hey Magick - I just watched Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and I had forgotten how prominent a part is played by the leading woman's sky blue Aston Martin DB2/4 convertible. What a great engine sound it makes!

+1  Did 22 days on a backpacking trip after college, and it was nowhere near enough time.  What you really need to do is just go Hemingway on Europe... really live there for a while and just soak it all in.

Nah, can't do that, Mrs M is like Dora the Explorer, she has to go investigate and check out everything of cultural and artistic significance. With her it's a constant "ooh, ooh, look at that". It's kinda cute, really. We spend some down time, but only after we've hit up the museums, galleries, and local points of interest.

Can't stay too long, we'll already have to take the big rodent, he wouldn't survive for more than a few weeks without her. I don't want to leave the rest of the critters alone that long. And yes, when Pablo goes with us he gets his own seat on the plane, but she makes sure he's properly bathed. As long as she's around he's as quiet as a mouse.

And if you happen to be in Paris, you're gonna have to add some extra days so she can adequately express to everyone what ******** they are.

We usually fly Delta Economy comfort, which with AmEx often gets upgraded to BusinessElite or First Class (if available), unless it's full (which is rare). When he's with us and we get upgraded, it's happened twice, the BE/FC area is huge and he just sits with her in her "alcove". So far the other passengers haven't minded him at all. Plus, he is a paying passenger. She makes sure he's fully "evacuated" before the flight, and doesn't give him water during, but she has some puppy pads, just in case, and can take him to the lavatory. There are specific rules for canines on flights, but I've found that if you actually buy them a ticket, they ignore a lot of those.

We spent some time in France and they were very polite, actually. Her French is pretty good (mine is spotty) so she was able to communicate fully with them, and that helps.

Yeah it does.  They have this ridiculous notion that they're still a world power and that we should all speak French when we go there.

It's not a big deal, and most of them knew English, they simply preferred not to use it. I just let her do the talking. She didn't cut them any slack, either. She remained her usual charming self. biggrin.gif

Interesting about the dog - I'd be a bit more cautious with a ~12-16 hour flight though, he will need water and food during that unless you're sedating him. But yeah with a small dog like that, and if he behaves, I don't see any reason to not just bring him onto the plane and treat it like a road trip. It's nice to hear that the airline can accept that too (generally I've had good experiences with Delta like that as well, not that I fly with my 100 lb puppy, lol).

If anyone says anything about the dog, I would just look at them with a straight face and say: "I'm on a special diet. He's my lunch."

He hasn't been on a trip of that length, but if we did and we had to take him, I'd probably have to charter something. What kind of dog do you have?

I'd love a cruise, BUT; she can't swim, doesn't like to get out in the sun, and gets seasick on any type of watercraft. Essentially, if water plays a major part of the travel plan, she won't go for it. 100% landlubber.

Not enough actual meat on that one to bother with, and what's on there is pretty tough and stringy. Funny thing, we've been trying to figure out why he's gaining weight, she'd put him on a special diet because he was getting chubby, but it didn't seem to help. Well, come to find out that the housekeepers adore him and he's been charming them into feeding him our leftovers. I saw it today for myself. He'll dance around and then stands up on his hind legs and begs and whimpers, it's pathetic (and ingenious). Then, when he saw that my wife had snuck in to see for herself what was going on, he was so ashamed that he crawled into the pantry with his tail between his legs and hid. hahaha


Edit: I did get in the Yamaha YH-1000 orthos, and talk about overrated. Geez. confused.gif

More like a Gulfstream G550 or Boeing Business Jet with 10 other people who are going the same direction. When you do it like that, it's not a whole lot more expensive than 1st class tickets. I went with some other `Bama fans to the `09 BCS championship game in a Gulfstream V and we split the cost, it was a swanky as hell way to travel. We had an attendant, booze, big TV, and an in-air poker game to and from.
