Just seeing the Sixteen again makes me ask that age old question that we ask about all good concept cars: why the eff didn't they make that?
Not bad... 20 mpg is viable for me because I drive so little. I've got this one friend who is a huge ecomentalist (as the TG blokes would say). And he can't understand why I don't want to get a Prius and save the planet. He's a bit of a f***nugget that one.
Yeah, but you know he's gonna wanna try it himself - especially if he can't find an idiot to take the wheel.

If you're talking about weird and Dodge, the Tomahawk is both the beginning and end of that discussion imho.

Well, the end perhaps. But there is this little matter of the Dodge Deora that the world could easily have done without.

I love how that Cadillac looks. It reminds me of Chryslers LH Platform (1999-2004).

Yeah, I'm going to buy some type of euro RMR supercar, I'm just trying to decide what.

No offense taken at all.

Yeah I'd take anything over waiting until 14 months from now. No interest in their FR cars? (I haven't looked at Ferraris in like two years, so for all I know every single model I rattled off is no longer in production, especially given that the one you're talking about I've never heard of).
No luck on the GT40?
I'm thinking if I'm going to put down that much money, I want a warranty. I was going back and forth between the 458 and MP4, and it's come down to availability and the sales depts. The McLaren people are really hot after me, they actually called me this morning, from England. They seem to really want my business, they're working for it. They even offered me free driving lessons at the TG track with one of their test drivers, and a chance to meet Louis Hamilton (if he's available). Ferrari is more like, "We are Ferrari, we do not care if you buy our car". For not much cash (comparatively) I can get a, get this, 8yr/100,000mi B2B warranty. And, 4yr/40k miles of free service
, which can be carried out by the local Merc/AMG service gurus. I believe I've made my decision. MP4-12C specs:Twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8
616bhp, 558whp, 8500 RPM redline
443 lb-ft of torque @3000 RPM
0-to-60 in 2.9 sec (C&D test)
1/4 mile in 10.4 seconds (C&D test)
That's unhinged. Also, no gas-guzzler tax. No kidding, it gets 22MPG. I'm sold.

It should stay a rendering. Not all concepts should be made...
Speaking of, does anyone else here think the the Cadillac Sixteen should have gone into production? For some reason, I think it is just the business. And I could totally see Magick in one of those.
Okay, but if you didn't have to carry more than you and the wife, would you then consider the coupe? The sedan (or saloon) is great, but the coupe looks absolutely artistic IMO.
Wow, that is a long time. But then again, that's kind of par for the course with Ferraris as I understand it. By the time one takes delivery, there's a new FOTM. Feel bad for all those people that had orders placed for F430s watching the Italia get rolled out.
James May did that, bought a 430 right before the 458 was announced. He caught a lot of flack from Pinky and Perky over that. Would have made me sick, to be perfectly honest. I'm actually chatting with Mr May right now via IM, how freaky is that?

Yep, the P1 is hideous, looks like something a 1st year design student would draw up after a night of shrooms and vodka. I don't care how fast it is, I wouldn't want to be seen in it. *shudder*
The CTS-V coupe is okay, but it would be good to have a car with some cargo room, and for those times when we have to take a couple extra people along (and not crush their legs). There's a whole lot of 16 DNA in the CTS-V, and that makes it a pretty special car.
Anyhow, the contractor dude is coming by and we're gonna go over garage plans, then I need to drop off the RR at the shop and give them info about what we want from the refurbishment. So, lots of stuff going on today.

Has anyone read "Daemon" & "Freedom" by Daniel Suarez? They had autonomous cars in those stories.
Of course, in Daemon, the "AutoM8" cars became wolf packs of assassins controlled by a killer AI...

I think concept cars are supposed to be weird - that's not the kind of weird I meant. Maybe it's just me, but I tend to be drawn more to cars that become rare and special by accident rather than on purpose. A factory show car doesn't interest me as much as a car that seemed like a good idea, but then failed and became rare. Of course, exotics are a different animal entirely - they are all essentially show cars. Planned rarity seems a little too much like the Franklin Mint - "Only 5000 of these beautiful collector reproductions clad in 0.0000001 grams of gold will be struck. Don't miss your opportunity to own one!"
Yes. Planned scarcity/collect-ability kind of kills collection, unless you're talking true limited runs. Like I have some old books that only have 200-300-400 copies in print, but they weren't intended to be collector's items. They just didn't make a lot of them. I agree with this.

I'd go McLaren too - just based on the CS you're getting. Especially for that money. I still vote CTS-V Wagon. And a prop coffin.

lol.

You mean like an Edsel?
I'm personally still pissed that the Pontiac Banshee never made it into production. I mean, why do they make cool ****, if they're not gonna make cool ****?
You sir have made an excellent choice!
Yup, I remember. Though the 430 is a very nicely understated supercar in it's own right. Not exactly drop dead sexy like the 458, but then again neither is Mr. James May if I'm to be honest.
Sure, I totally understand the reason why. Just saying that on pure looks, there's something about the coupe that is VERY hard to ignore.
Keepin' busy. Always a good thing, especially when it's fun.
You know what, I would NOT be surprised to learn that he's already a Head-Fier. I mean, think about it, why wouldn't he be?

If this wasn't a Prius, I might be interested:

I'm not sure what it is, but I know that deep down in my soul - or loins - or a combination thereof, that I need to KILL THAT THING!
Yes. I do believe the man has made an excellent choice.
Well, then he wouldn't be able to fit four people in it. Although...
MORBID IDEA ALERT!
He could carry a child's coffin. And tell everyone that gets in the car that he and his wife like to keep their kid close, so it doesn't really feel like he's gone. Bet that would make for some hilarious reactions from people. Need to mount a hidden cam though, so we can all laugh together.
There's a remote possibility that I might have been working too hard as of late.

There's a remote possibility that I might have been working too hard as of late.I found this kind of funny, but then the critical side kicked in and said: but it lacks the proper hardware and probably isn't large enough. I've seen a PT Cruiser converted to carry an "infant coffin" (it was custom made as a prop, not an actual funerary item); looked pretty mean. But an actual casket is easily too large for most conventional vehicles (and I can specifically tell you the CTS-V Wagon, based on the one I saw, is in this category of being too small; I think the track is even too narrow, before we even get into the 7'+ clearance that's required and load carrying capacity).

Yes, but for comedic purposes it would not need to be functional. It would only need to look the part from the inside AFTER guests have been seated. Also, if something could be put inside the coffin that makes a slight rustling noise (or makes the sound of a child faintly singing) that would be great. Magick could activate it from his phone via Bluetooth or something.
